Depends on the game.

For something like Contra, Metal Slug, or any good Shmup, boss fights are usually the highlight of the game.

Well then, those are the games I don't care much for.

You haven't lived if you haven't play Metal Slug.

"Rocket looncher!"

Midway Arcade Treasure.

Especially Smash T.V., Spy Hunter, and Marble Madness, played the NES ports lot back in the day.

Just finished Arx Fatalis the other day. I have not played Red Dead Redemption 1 or 2. The second one is now on PC so maybe I'll try it.

Can't speak on the 2nd one as I haven't played it yet (not available on PS3). However, the original is a great game, imo, even though I hated the clunky 3rd person controls. The story and scenery was really good. The ending was a huge shock.

Red Dead 1 is almost unplayable for me because of the clunky feel. I wanted to play through it last year before I bought Red Dead 2 but I honestly just couldn't do it. It's like going back to clunky Mass Effect 1 after the smooth combat of 3.

Red Dead 2 is a great game, though.

I wouldn't call RDR1 or ME1 clunky, I've played through both recently and they hold up alright. There were definitely better controlling games at the time, no question about that, but that's true of RDR2 as well compared to games from the last era.

And there are still games in the PS2 era that hold up perfectly, age has nothing to do with it.

Speaking of unplayable, I rebougbt Midway Arcade Treasures for the PS2 recently, despite already owning it for the Gamecube. This is to compare visuals over component vs composite cables.

The good news: Sinistar now looks much sharper, and the black background looks back, instead of bright grey.

The bad: There is something off about the joystick routines in the PS2 version. For a lot of games, the analog stick regularly goes off center, being stuck in one direction. For Marble Madness, both the analog stick and the dpad seem to skip presses, so when you try and input initials you end up unable to select the letter you want.

I can still play most games alright with the dpad. Except Paperboy, that game is impossible without reliable directioning, and the dpad doesn't auto-center like it should.

Sekiro. Game is hard as hell. Tenchu on steroids.

Isn't that what DMC is?

Nope. I read that Tenchu had too many rights holders which made it very difficult and expensive to put out a new one. I supspect that Sekiro is Tenchu under a new name, with added Dark Souls type features to keep From Software from being pursued. Sekiro is a mixture of hardcore stealth assassination, and brilliant samurai style combat. Beautiful game but extremely difficult. Every fight that you engage in needs to be approached with extreme caution and aggression, or back to the last shrine that you rested at. Anyone that thought that Dark Souls was difficult may want to steer past this one.

lol Red Dead Redemption had some of the most clunky controls of any game I've ever played; even compared to most other 3rd person games I've played (which are all clunky to me on varying levels which is why I prefer mostly first person games). If it weren't for the clunky controls I'd probably rate that game at least 9/10 instead of the solid 8/10 I give it.

Lol...Red Dead Redemption 1 doesn't have clunky control's, Try playing the sequel

if not i don't think gaming is for some people.

Heh, nah I've played plenty of games so yes, gaming is for me and yes RD1 has clunky controls in comparison to pretty much every other game I've played. That is a fact. Period. Won't waste my time arguing it anymore. If you think it isn't clunky then good for you..

The sequel is much smoother and easier to control than the original.

Oh, give me a break.

I don't remember finding RDR1 clunky at all tbh, but I also played it literally almost a decade ago.

I played it two weeks ago.

Seemed fine to me.
