You still have your carts?Keep an eye out for Steam sales, the Genesis and Megadrive collection sometimes goes for 10 dollars and has some of the best games, like Sonic 3 and Knuckles, the other two, AND an HD remake of Sonic CD.
Plus all three Streets of Rage, plus three Golden Axes, plus Gunstar Heroes and an awesome semi-sequel called Alien Soldier.
I bought it past year, then bought an Atgames Legends Flashback 2018 console on clearance for 20 dollars, discovered it can play Sega roms, and dumped all the Genesis roms from Steam on an SD card. Had to update the firmware first though, but they run good, and have Sega Genssis replica controllers to play it with.
No need to wait for steam I'll emulate the shit outta the games if I wanna play.

That works too.
We've all done it, no one on earth would play arcade Donkey Kong outside of an arcade if you couldn't (Nintendo is only JUST getting around to releasing it for a home console!)
I just like the idea that you can buy a boatload of old Genesis roms, emulate them however you want, and it's all good and legal. It's a rare pleasure for retro gamers, to say I can legally emulate this rom collection, free and clear.

I remember when I first discovered emulators and roms, I felt like I hit the treasure trove.

I like emulating stuff you can't normally find anywhere else, there's a novelty to it.
Like Aliens vs Predator or Xexex on M.A.M..E.
I'll do Nintendo carts I own, too. Or even some I don't, because **** Nintendo and their price gouging anyways.
But it's still pretty awesome to fire up something I paid for, so I can feel less like a shoplifting kid and more like someone who works for a living.
I finally decided to give Red Dead Redemption's dlc "Undead Nightmare" a try after finishing the base game a few months back. Unlike the base game, the dlc is extremely boring to me. Just repetitive killing of zombies over... and over... and over... and over again... yawn.
I stopped playing after about an hour from being so damn bored. I doubt I'll ever be able to finish it as I have plenty of other much more exciting games to keep me entertained till the PS5 comes out next year.

It has some neat boss fights too.
I don't care much for boss fights. Bosses tend to have a shitload of health/hit points and many have some kind of regeneration or shield or whatever to prolong the fight for an extended time. There were certain bosses in Borderlands that I hated fighting because they were massive bullet sponges.
Anyway, I've decided to do another playthru (my 2nd) of Dead Island. Playing as Sam B. this time around (first time played as the asian chick Xian; sharp weapons expert).
I know it may seem strange to begin playing a zombie game just after I bashed Red Dead Redemption's "Undead Nightmare" in a recent post for being nothing but repetitive fighting of zombies over and over but the combat in Dead Island is actually much more exciting (so are the zombies). It is focused on mainly melee combat as opposed to fighting with guns although there are some firearms in the game and it is first person combat instead of third person as Red Dead Redemption is. Personally, I much prefer 1st person over 3rd in fighting situations.

Depends on the game.
For something like Contra, Metal Slug, or any good Shmup, boss fights are usually the highlight of the game.
