That wouldn't make any sense. The real thing that also won't make sense, is how Goku and Vegeta don't get Hakai'd right off the bat since he's stronger than they are, presumably.
He already performed above and beyond in the ToP.
Just say he was hiding his power. Or that he was training, or did the same trick Granola did but keeps extending his life with the fountain of youth.

yeah this is stupid...150 years of a nobody life condensed is stronger than Goku or Vegeta. That is some dumb writing if you ask me.If they legit give him UI and Hakai im out. Beerus is what millions of years old and still has not mastered UI.
UI I don't think. But you don't need to to actually hit UI Gokou. He's been hit before.
Well, that Hakai isn't exploding things. So, there must be different versions of destruction. Because when Granola used it on the rock, there was a large explosion like Beerus talked about. Then when he used it on the part of the floor that was throne at him, it just turned to dust the way Zamasu did when Beerus used it on him, and the way Merged Zamasu was.
Vegeta is confirmed above Broly thanks to Whis stating he doesn't know any mortals as strong as Goku or Vegeta.
The dragon stating he would make Granolah > all in universe 7 "apart from the Gods themselves", if taken to mean Beerus, means that Beerus is confirmed above Goku.
Beerus > Granolah > Goku > Vegeta > LSSJ Broly > SSJ Broly > Jiren
Moro-73 is still probably stronger than Vegeta and it's not clear how Broly movie Gogeta Blue would compare, but since he needed two finishing moves and a dozen unanswered punches to put Broly down, that means Vegeta's yardrat training gave him a blue-fusion level boost in power.
Just lol at this point

He fooled Beerus and Whis for a moment, so he must have had something there,
Not UI, but something that is close enough it can impress even an angel.
Merus told Gokou that he could defeat anybody if he unlocked UI. But, statements like that don't matter in a shounen anime, because each threat will always be strong enough to give Gokou and Vegeta a fight. Otherwise, the series ends. Cause they will never really focus on the others to defeat a big bad.
