What leads you to believe it's combat applicable? I daresay that if he can pull that kind of stunt on a whim, he would have just done so the moment he arrived on Ziost.

Recall this?

He allowed their plan to play out, but when they gathered to confront the Emperor, his punishment was swift and devastating. Eleven members of the Dark Council died in a sudden flash on the steps of the Citadel. The last member Darth Lokess, disappeared forever, though for some centuries some claimed her screams could be heard from the bowels of the Citadel.

It is important to understand the story before jumping to conclusions. Vitiate arrived on Ziost and began to possess individuals across the planet to utilize them for murder and chaos. In this manner, Vitiate was able to grow further in power by drawing on the chaos and deaths he caused (i.e. Force Drain). The Protags arrived and attempted to stop Vitiate but failed. More importantly, Vitiate became so powerful from the chaos he caused on Ziost, that he ravaged the entire planet afterwards. The Protags evacuated before they would be consumed.

Obsessed with achieving immortality, the Sith Emperor has targeted his own former subjects on the planet Ziost, with every death seemingly extending his dark power. Speaking through those he's possessed, he controls powerful pawns like Master Surro, the leader of a team of elite militarized Jedi known as the Sixth Line.

Vitiate's showings in Ziost are definitely combat-applicable.

If Vitiate wants to kill someone, he does. Similarly, if he wants to spare or toy with someone, he does this too.

We also don't know if his spirit (or any spirit, for that matter) would be able to withstand such destruction.

How did his spirit survive Ziost then?

Because it's not directed at him? It's supposed to fuel him, not kill him.

Yeah, so what is his argument here then?

Lol, what's your argument?

LOL this is getting weird. I'm trying to understand what you mean by:

Well, it can't really be applied to combat considering that if he did, his host would also die.

Ok lol, to clarify: I think Vitiate wouldn't be able to utilize his massive destruction ritual (Ziost) in combat. What do you think?

I agree though not because he would hurt himself by doing so.

No, apart from that, he needs to absorb like half the planet to do so, so yeah. He can't in a vs.

But now that he is even more powerful, could he replicate it without the sacrifices? Or perhaps he needed them in the first place cause he doesn't have a physical form? So many questions...

Nah, I think the sacrifices are a huge part of that feat.

Critics never run out of excuses, do they?

Vitiate's power doesn't fluctuates. He consistently grew in power prior to the setback, and he is consistently growing in power after the setback. Check my response below for further clarification.

Only BioWare can answer these questions.

But BioWare have provided information in this regard, that you need to concentrate on.

This happened after Vitiate acquired strength from chaos on Yavin IV:

"We suffered many casualties upon the Emperor's return..." – Darth Marr

"The scores of dead have nourished me. I am awakened. And I bring with me--death!" – Sith Emperor

Growth in power of Vitiate and his resultant showings are not difficult to comprehend, if you put together the bits of available information properly.

Yes, but he has yet to ravage an entire planet without having to absorb the life energy of thousands or millions.

The entire point was to absorb their life energy, lmfao.

...to be able to ravage the planet, besides acquiring power, obviously. Exactly.

*to be powerful enough to return to his physical form.

Which = acquiring power. I don't understand, you agree that he wouldn't be able to use it in a vs.? Or not?

When Vitiate arrived on Ziost, he was already powerful enough to telepathically dominate living beings across the planet. The ensuing chaos and bloodshed further fueled his power and he eventually reached a point of strength that he could ravage the entire world with his powers.
