I'd use a gun in self defense, yes. Would I use a gun on some government enforcer that was there to collect a weapon I wasn't legally allowed to have? No.
An interesting thing:
In the US, Gunsales is staying pretty steady, but the number of people who have guns is steadily dropping.
I.e. guns are becoming increasingly the domain of the gun collector, not the general populace. Every time there's a rush to buy guns because people are afraid they'll be taken away, it's generally by the people who already have guns.
currently live in north carolina... been fun watching all the rednecks around here rage over the flag issue
a bunch of semi-obese rednecks actually held a "protest" in the parking lot of the local defunct mall. never once have i seen the fine citizens of this podunk hicktown take to the streets and protest... until this issue came along. the protest consisted of them driving around in a caravan with confederate flags mounted on their trucks.
the funny thing is to me it seems like most of them aren't even really bad people.. they are just in complete denial about the south's cultural legacy and long history of institutionalized racism. they don't even acknowledge that the civil war had anything to do with slavery... they talk about it as if the union were the bad guys and they were just defending their homeland. and of course there's probably some truth to that... but they conveniently leave out the part about trying to keep the entire black population in slavery and then later rallying around that same flag in resistance to the civil rights movement
and they speak about the whole thing as if now they are the oppressed ones... "cultural genocide," one guy called it. they are lucky that progressives and liberals are actually as soft as they are. if i were dictator these people would be sent to the laogai as traitors until they eventually reemerged as reformed, patriotic individuals that are loyal to the union.
So typical of an ignorant yankee to assume everyone who is from the South or who supports the Confederate flag is a "redneck". LOL. I suppose u think we are all inbred too and can't read or write either, right dumbass?
