Does Star not realize the Confederacy was, like, literally traitors who took up arms against the United States?
It was *kinda* their thing.
South Carolina has been an American state for two centuries. It was a Confederate one for just a few years over a century ago.
And no, taking it down doesn't solve everything, not by a long shot. But it's a step in the right direction, the government of all places should not be waving a flag of oppression- and the Governor was being loyal to people in her state when see said to take it down.
If you're pissed about a Governor being against a flag of racism against a lot of people who live in her state, which is about 1/3rd black, 1/3rd of her people are black, you may want to re-consider your priorities.
Oh, and all those stats that show flag sales were up over 3000% in some places as a result of all this nonsense? Those were all just made up stats to make flag supporters feel better. No, really. roll eyes (sarcastic)
Oh heck no, those are totally real. Actually, exactly what I'd expect, there's usually a short-term backlash.
It's just not clear why you think that's a good thing.
