The Batman (2022)

The Lego Batman movie probably Scared him.

There is nothing to suggest that he is leaving the character. If and or when that happens, it will be a shame. He's trying to find a good director now.

From what read, Seems to indicate he's focusing more on the script & acting in this movie and staying away from directing.

Matt Reeves (War of the Planet of the Apes) is the frontrunner. Probably more news soon.

I wonder if that's why Affleck is distancing himself too. He was working with Johns, they had a story done and dusted, and were ready to go, but all of a sudden Affleck doesn't want to direct, and the movie is being completely rewritten.

Wonder how much of it had to do with Live by Night bombing, and how much of it was Affleck being pushed by WB until he said "**** it, i'm not making any more changes, so you can make your own damn movie".

This was addressed on Collider. I don't think Live By Night had anything to do with it. Ben is still WB's golden child.

Ben wasn't even that good in the role. People should want him out. He isn't getting any younger.

@ krolljvar: No, several sources already saying new script came in this month and everyone including Emmerich and Ben very happy with it

This news seems to conflict with previous rumors that were all over the place, with several claiming that the script for the next Batman solo outing would be receiving a major page-one rewrite, courtesy of Academy Award-winning Argo scribe Chris Terrio. Presumably, this latest draft would be the one that Terrio worked on, but it seems that the work required was nowhere near as substantial as previously reported. Affleck co-wrote the original draft with comic book writer extraordinaire Geoff Johns.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was all damage control, but we'll see, I guess.

I would like to see Ben back as Batman. Not as Frank Miller-y, but that can be explained by saying he only went all murdery when Robin died, and the emergence of the League is bringing him back to the guy he once was.

I think they'd have to focus first on making Supes more relatable & less alienated to humanity before they could even try & mellow Bats.
