MID-HERALD TOURNAMENT DISCUSSION

Started by Digi76 pages

Usually we've left weakness removal to judges and in-match arguments for or against them. Probably best to leave it like that, which then puts the onus on how confident drafters are that they amalgamated well.

K, I'm drafting:

Magik - Low Herald

Invisible Boy - Low Herald

I couldn't find a proper bio for Johnny Storm's Invisible Boy identity, but here's a respect thread that somebody on Reddit made.

I'm going to go write a midterm, so I'll tune in later in case there are questions.

Isn't Magik a Hell Lord?

And a herald of Galactus as a Low Herald? I know Airwalker is there, but Red Shift, Surfer, Morg, Firelord and Terrax are all above that...

Swapping Morlun out for Ultimate Reed.

Yes.

As you say, Airwalker isn't. Neither is Frankie Ray Nova. But that's why I linked to a respect thread. I've also used Invisible Boy in a previous low herald tourney, though it was short lived. He doesn't break the cap.

Fair enough.

Others are more knowledgeable than me. I just thought Magik and Invisible Boy would be above a Low Herald...

Looking at PG rules; his recap he posted, I'm no longer participating. I already know the outcome of this BZ, so it's pointless for me to continue on a losing battle. Some of the rules here, I do not agree with. I wish everyone luck here. I will continue searching until I find a BZ I favor.

Carver your a punk.
Draft Hulk, Red Ring Lantern, and Speedster.

Wreck Shit.

/end

And what outcome is that? Participate, stop teasing us.

What exactly is your damage

Look it's no big deal. I didn't mean that pycho made BAD calls, I just meant that the tourney's becoming something other than what I signed up for. I was looking for something simple, this is all becoming too complicated and would require a complete change of my plans and a whole lot of time to get ready... I'm just not into it like this. But you guys have fun and put on a good show for me

Draft what ID suggested. You don't need to be complicated - scoobs proves that all the time.

Seriously Carver, hulk sucks. Fight me about it.

Lob, I had a counter that told me the seconds - you may have posted during the same minute, but I posted first within that minute. Sorry.

YOU'LL REALLY BE SORRY IF WE MEET IN THE TOURNAMENT!!!!

😠 😠 😠

Carver does have a point. Seems like a 'no amp' mid Herald tourney is allowing high Herald smashing power levels because of the lack of clarity on what 'amping' actually includes.

No one answered my proposed Kara scenario either.

Yeah the whole "amp" thing is a bit of a nuisance which is why I don't want it allowed

That seems weird to me. Why have an amalgamation if it's not to get the best of all worlds and synergistically create a better competitor? If you guys want three mid-heralds to duke it out, non-amalgamated, that's a different scenario and amping won't be a problem whatsoever.

So then if nobody wants amping then no amping. You get the natural benefits of the character amalgamations, some covering the weaknesses of their sum.

Both scenarios include mini sun powers just in different forms which will pretty much do the same to a Kryptonian. That same Kryptonian bonded with someone with Adamanium bones would be stronger but their power wouldn't continue to rise on demand post amalgamation

I think that's the distinction people are searching for

Exactly, but one is powers amping and the other is material amping.

So is one acceptable?

I think making a distinction with materials vs powers is a red herring.

People seem to want amalgams that stack, not multiply:

Power + Power

Not Power * Power
