Out of curiosity where would you guys rank post resrrection Capt Comet. He was no longer class 100+, no super speed, and no longer had invulnerability. His psionic powers however got quite a boost

I thought KM thought that about Nu52 Comet. I mean pre 52 post mystery in space resurrection story. He wasnt even a genius anymore (that part sucks). Though he could TP stomp 5 clones of his former body in seconds. He also casually undid the mind job it took a dozen of his former bodies clones to do on the Weird in seconds.

A question was posed to me about how we differentiate between pre/post crises versions of the same characters and if they are considered separate due to retroactive continuity. It's a hard line to draw so it's worth open discussion

It really depends on the character. Some DC characters got upgraded by COIE while others got downgraded and others never changed.

Point in case my own picks.
Dr occult got substantially upgraded after Crisis. His appearances pre wouldnt even rate mid meta.

Starman didnt appear post, though his devices did and are much the same, some showings indicate higher. There was one pre coie story where his cosmic rod was shown uber powerful but it wasn't used by him that way (by some cesestial entity of the Zodiac) so not really a feat one could use for him.

Comet one could argue either stayed the same or got upgraded. Pre Coie he was often referred to as 1/10 the strength etc of Superman. Post he has showings of being closer to equal. As I see it this is more due to the fact Superman got downgraded then Comet getting a bump. In most other regards his feat are consistent either side of Crisis.

So they're different. I don't so much mean COIE but any crises (flashpoint, infinite) or say ultimate/616 versions

Am I in this?

As with COIE different "crisis" affect character differntly. Many character histories didnt cha ge through events at all. Example would be Batman and Flashpoint. Pretty much the only change is that quite a bit of his history is now as an "Urban legend". As in it happened just not as publicly known and considerd a myth by many.

Look for example at Powergirl thru COIE she even still knew her pre crisis history even though it was no more.

I think it should be taken a s a case by case basis, with anyone choosing to use feats from either side of such an event being prepared to show that its consistent with the other side and that the continuity maintained

Got a question/statement about Absorbing man...Anyone who can overpower Thor is inherently high herald. He's only a "low herald" because his immense CIS has led to a number of embarrasing defeats that bring down his average, without CIS he's easily high herald. Say that if he's allowed, his adsorption power should be capped at low herald since amping over that level means that his being drafted as a low herald was a mistake... No different than drafting Hulk and then going World Breaker when you get right down to.

Also, about Ant Man...about the restrictions on Any Man's powers. Shrinking and controlling ants is fine, but growing is a blatant violation of the "no amping" rule.

"Amping Rules: Disallowed. Materials that aid a power (i.e. Jeffries/adamantium) are allowed. Power amping is not (i.e. The Ray + Kara)

Note: Amping is a state of empowerment fueled by some source source, that increases a characters physical prowess or ability."

As ID seemed to have envisioned, amping the power of a character by using another as a battery of sorts to take them to new heights is out but a material that has beneficial properties isn't banned from making your character better.

Naturally your amalgams will be unavoidably well into high herald but try and keep them in that bracket. It's not a perfect science
