BAH!
I drafted Absorbing Man AT THE SAME DAMN TIME as Blair Wind.
It was a tie and in the event of a tie, THE CHAMPION, always wins. Everyone knows that!
Now, knowing THE TREACHERY that has been brought against me I chose Vulcan just in case you engaged in BRAZEN corruption.
Now, I think it's time you tell BW that Creel is mine and have him choose again!

As ID seemed to have envisioned, amping the power of a character by using another as a battery of sorts to take them to new heights is out but a material that has beneficial properties isn't banned from making your character better.
Naturally your amalgams will be unavoidably well into high herald but try and keep them in that bracket. It's not a perfect science

Does amping then include weakness removal?
So using my Aquaman/Plastic Man example, Aquaman would now no longer have a dehydration weakness.
Also regarding amping, if the material somehow gives you powers you couldn't have without it, is that ok?
The Jeffries thing was always iffy to me, if you can't amp powers with other powers; then you shouldn't really be allowed to amp your powers in any way... that seemed to be the spirit of "no-amping" in the first place.
EG, I can't use Ray + Kara because he's like a mini star which would give her a serious power boost - but if I draft a character who happens to carry a mini star (can't think of one right now) it's suddenly ok to amp Kara's power? simply because the amp is now from equipment and not from other powers.
Personally, I think either all amping should be allowed, or all amping should be disallowed.
............
Drafted characters should have the powers they always had and no more, regardless of what their amalgamated buddies bring to the table.
or
Anything goes.
K, I'm drafting:
Beta Ray Bill - Mid Herald

Magik - Low Herald
http://www.comicvine.com/magik/4005-8303/
Invisible Boy - Low Herald

I couldn't find a proper bio for Johnny Storm's Invisible Boy identity, but here's a respect thread that somebody on Reddit made.

I'm going to go write a midterm, so I'll tune in later in case there are questions.
Psycho, you may need to reorganize the rules to either fit your new tournament, or stick to exactly what has been written but clarify IDs rulings further (and to be noted by everyone else, while not drafted, Creel was allowable in that tournament)
Psycho, you know what I'm planning. If anything should change just please let me know. I'll try and keep up to date, but my characters are the ones people are attacking most so any changes will affect me I guess.
Not sure where the amping discussion has led. But Blair's general strategy is - I hope - able to be deduced, though I may have some assistance bc I've thought of the same strat myself. It falls under the Jeffries rule, so it should technically be ok. But of course there's always grey area. Absorbing Man in general falls under the Jeffries rule. So even if you don't know the details, the overall principle should be evident.
I'm not in the business of airing strategies in public, though. So if PG or another organizer wants to PM me for clarification, feel free.

Idunno. The weakness would be easy to argue that it's vastly reduced if not gone
