In the issue before that was the one where he was fighting Sasquatch and not doing all that well until Cyclops told him to stop f*cking around, once he did that the tide of the fight turned into Colossus' favor. In fact the last panel of the fight Colossus has Sasquatch on the ground while he was pounding on him.
He was not, the fighting stopped completely when the weather got out of control. From the text "enough of the fury gets through to bring the battle to a screeching halt" (Storm then rushes to calm the storm). Notice everyone was standing around and even Wolverine and Guardian were in the exact same position (same for cyclops and Northstar). We don't know what happened, but we do know the fighting stopped as per the text. More then likely since everyone else was in the exact same position except for Walter, it was an artist error and Walter should have been on the ground from the judo toss in the second last panel we see of him.
People put way to much stock saying the "tide was turning" too. Only reason Colossus landed the judo toss as walter was being cocky. Walter being the genius is he is would allow him to do that again? Unlikely
His punches were literally doing nothing earlier, don't see why they would do anything of note now even if he was hitting him while he was on the ground
