I did and I have been reading GL off and on since Guy Gardner was a Vuldarian. I actually am a GL fan I just think surfer in this one particular area is better...

I've looked at the feats both sides are compelling

Since you invoked my great name let's debate this. You claim the feats decide this which is utterly and completely ridiculous. They only tell a part of the equation. You ignore abilities, strengths, weaknesses, and their peer to peer comparisons. Surfer doesn't have a finite charge, isn't reliant on an external power source in that of a ring, and is more durable. Your move, boy.

Random GLs have much better than planet busting feats.

Named GLs have much better feats than the two Surfer feats you cited.

Pretty sure that the GL's don't operate at those high levels most of the time, and that the majority of them are often used as fodder characters.
