Morrison does whatever the hell Morrison wants to do. In all honesty though I think it has a lot of capabilities and it is an outlier in terms of ability given he's never done anything to show that he can alter that area ever again.
Morrison had Superman do things like take a blast from something suggested to be capable of destroying a galaxy I believe on a trial run though with an initial blast is unknown. He had Batman take down more White Martians then anyone else.
It goes into back to the topic of consistency vs outlier. Whether you should go with something because it was shown to be done or go with what's been shown to be consistent with characters.

For the most part it's excellent. Quitely does piss off eventually, but they don't replace him with anything better. We get Bachalo and a few others, which seems crazy considering how well written it was at times. It just got a bit messy towards the end.
