WOM only does so much for a movie, to me. For a lot of people, no amount of "no, you should go see it" is going to change their opinion if the trailer sucks ass.

BvS is evidence of both bad advertising AND bad WOM, imo.

BVS overall didn't have bad marketing. Most of the trailers people liked as was evident in positive tweets and mentions on other social media sites. Remember, most people don't read comics, so they weren't bothered by a lot of stuff fans of the comics complained about.

BvS was over-marketed to the point where most of the major events had already been revealed long before the movie hit theaters: which kind of adds to the bad WOW and poor legs it had later on.

With that said if WW sucks then I see no hope in this universe and it should be at least given a soft-reboot. I'd argue it's in need of one right now but will still given WW a chance.

There were plenty of people that thought the trailers sucked, especially in comparison to the likes of CW.

I wasn't talking about the comics. This time at least.

I didn't particularly care for the CW trailers other than the SM reveal, but my point is the GA thought they were good. To the point where people were actually clapping at the second one and the one where they revealed WW.

I'd argue there were just as many people wondering why they seemed to be showing the entire movie in the trailer.

BvS did have a couple of good trailers, don't get me wrong, but one of the others was absolutely horrendous.

They did reveal a bit much, but it held just enough interest for people to go see it. 166 M OW is no joke.

No, it isn't, but I honestly think it could have been higher if they'd just kept some of the movie to themselves. They revealed far too much for me.

WW has had good trailers so far, which I liked. None of that silly "pop song overload" stuff that was in the SS trailers either.

About that disgruntled employee. Here is what Patty had to say:

Well, yeah, she isn't going to say the movie is a mess... Still, the "email" reeks of BS and is factually incorrect at some points.

We''ll see when the movie comes out, I suppose.

Sure. But the film is still a year away. Even if the email is from a former employee his assessment of the film is absolute horse shit. I'm expecting the film will be a mess, but this guys judgment on it should be taken with several blocks of salt.

Sorry, I was replying to Golgo lol

It is for Batman V Superman featuring Wonder Woman tbh.

Marketing was terrible. But the movie's title was kind of misleading tbh, so the marketing team were stuck.

Totally disagree there. But you probably already knew that. 😛

I think problem was when you watch the film, and realise there's only 1 fight between Batman and Superman. And then you wonder how to market it, I guess you have to start showing some of that "Dawn of Justice" part where The Trinity are all happily working together.

That and they started marketing the film wayyyy too early. So by the time the film came out, they had practically shown us the plot for the entire film.

And looks like they're going to go that route again for JL, so WB doesn't seem to be learning shrug

sigh, not this starting again too early crap. 🙁

^ Well I ended up being right, so clearly not "crap" 😛

These films are not Star Wars, and can't be marketed as such. Heck even when Star Wars did it, they did it without giving anything away.

Right about what? Marketing early wasn't the problem.

BTW, SLOP had a long marketng campaign and it did well. Suicide Squad, too, and it's doing fine. You haven't proven anything here.

SS was an obscure property like GOTG so needed the marketing to begin early. Just to tell people who these guys are.

The box office results for BvS speak for themselves 😬
I was saying it from day1.
