SS was an obscure property like GOTG so needed the marketing to begin early. Just to tell people who these guys are.

The box office results for BvS speak for themselves 😬

You can't lay the bad legs on early marketing. That's just plain stupid.

Not the Bad legs. The OW!

But you said horrible reviews had an effect, not early marketing.

Was both. Even before the reviews, the OW predictions were low. The excitement didn't seem to be there.

Btw it was Both, Marketing way too early AND Overmarketing. But the latter is usually a product of the former.

Excitement was high on Social media and 166 is still a high number. Especially for March. Agree to disagree again.

I think problem was when you watch the film, and realise there's only 1 fight between Batman and Superman. And then you wonder how to market it, I guess you have to start showing some of that "Dawn of Justice" part where The Trinity are all happily working together.

That and they started marketing the film wayyyy too early. So by the time the film came out, they had practically shown us the plot for the entire film.

And looks like they're going to go that route again for JL, so WB doesn't seem to be learning shrug

I honestly don't think it was too early. They just gave us too much during said marketing, imo.

And honestly, you only need one fight between Superman and Batman if you frame it right. But Snyder obviously doesn't understand basic ****ing plot writing.

I just think if you're going to start marketing so early, then they're more than likely going to get most the film away by the time it's released. Also you can only keep the hype going for so long IMO.

1 fight is fine, if the film wasn't named Batman V Superman. Just think the name and marketing of that movie was all off. It wasn't Civil War where the big IM vs Cap fight was the final fight of the film. And where Civil War was the entire plot of the film.

Star Wars did a good job, and that was something like 3 years iirc from the moment that Disney bought out Lucas.

I honestly disagree. Batman v Superman, you know yourself, tends to be as much about a difference in ideologies as it is actual punching. I mean, would you really expect Batman to have a chance in more than one fight? They could have easily written a movie where the two of them are at odds and only had one real fight at the end, imo.

But Star Wars never gave away too much. Even after the final trailer we had no real clue what the film was about. WB clearly doesn't have that level of patience though. When they start marketing that early, they're naturally going to give away most of the film by the end.

Also just think SW is a rare breed where they can get away with not showing anything.

With the whole Batman vs Superman fight, dunno, they could have gone the Civil War route by having other heroes involved. But it was too early in the DCEU for that. There also wasn't enough time spent on them arguing it out about their different Philosophies on crime fighting IMO.

Either way, I feel like BvS needed to work out what it was as a movie, and I can understand if you're going to keep making loads and loads of trailers and Tv spots, then yeah I can understand how it would be very difficult to market without going into the big Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman vs Doomsday fight at the end. Because there's only so much marketing you can do on that 1 fight between Batman and Superman.

Wonder Woman actually worked in their favor, though. The female demography increased because of that, so I understand why they did it.

That was my initial point: They built up hype without giving everything away. CW did it too, but over a shorter period.

You can market a movie just fine, imo, even with one fight. You just have to fill the trailer with all the things that have been staples of crossover comics in the past: The initial disagreement, the different ideologies, and then the coming together to fight a common threat.

if this film sucks, I will just torrent justice league

All my insider info in the past has usually been spot on.
Your inside scoops are just damage control.

😂 Like how WW was going to be a Kryptonian or Lex in the battle armor? Or SS being horrible? None of those were true.

TBF, WW being shit but having good previews is a legit concern. BvS sucked, SS wasn't very good and despite Gadot looking great as WW, we don't know if she can carry the lead in a film.

I would have preferred Lex in battle armour to using Doomsday as a throwaway villain tbh.

Yeah Gadot leading her own film is a big concern for me.

Lex in battle armor was just a toy I posted. Never said it was in the movie.
SS was disappointing. I expected much more.
Since the quality is heavily lacking in these films, you have been reduced to posting box-office results now.
Golg's always trying to find the silver lining ermhappy

Nah, you bragged and said you "called it". You didn't call anything. 😂
