Acutally, no, you cannot "brace your brain" so to speak, but you can position yourself in ways to avoid a tko to an extent. He could tense his neck muscles to an extent that his head wasnt rocked as badly, but it was what it was, a suckerpunch to the side of the jaw, all we saw was fist. He had time to get up speed for all we know.

Yes, that is how fights work.
Hulk was mind controlled and came out of it. Batman beat up superman straight up. Superman went there prepared to fight and lost despite one of the weakest suits I've ever seen.
He doesn't need them. Superman did hulk doesn't.
Batman owned the Superman straight up.
