They're the same dude. We've literally never seen Vitiate when he wasn't also Valkorion. Vitiate ceased to be a mere Sith when he created the dual persona of Valkorion.

But those infallible sources that you and SWL cite to put him above previous ancient sith say that he's a sith...

Regardless, if it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck...he takes on a sith name, uses sith ideology and rules a sith empire. It's like saying that Palpatine isn't actually the Supreme Chancellor because he's secretly a sith lord. The two aren't mutually exclusive.

I don't really use those quotes actually. I hate that shit. Also those were written before he was revealed to have been Valkorion the whole time. Theres a reason he's universally referred to as Valkorion now, that's his true self.

He's the Emperor, but he doesn't have to be Sith for that. Don't think theres a rule about it. Palpatine was the Supreme Chancellor, but he sure as shit wasn't any of the stuff he claimed to be. He didn't believe in any of the ideals and was just using the system. He betrayed the office a billion times over and his election would certainly be invalid if his innumerable crimes had ever come to light.

Who cares if he secretly believed in the sith ideology? He was an official member of their organization.

While leading a competing organisation and plotting to murder them all. If your actions are fatally counter to said organisation, your allegiance to them is clearly invalid. Sidious wasn't a legitimate Chancellor since he'd committed countless acts of treason even prior to getting into office. Valkorion is the same, he turned his back on the Sith long ago and was just using them.

But sourcebooks still call him the chancellor.

Who cares.

Whoever wants to reference Palpatine being the most powerful sith, ofc.

If Obama was revealed to be the head of the Taliban and ISIS and that he'd done 9/11 to get himself into power, would his election still be valid?

Of course not.

So Palpatine isn't the Emperor because his justification for creating the Empire was invalid? 😬

Thats a funny thought. Is the Empire even a real government since its all bullshit? Huh. mmm

I guess when he became Emperor you could say that he's coopted the previous system and replaced it with his own, similar to a recognised and successful coup. But he's still absolutely not a valid Chancellor of the Republic.
