Yes exactly and you just showed why it's much much worse. One side is delusional people who want something that won't ever happen. The other is, as you said, REALITY.

That is god damn disturbing. This is like how when people say Hilary sold favors to foreign governments and people responded with "that's politics" without realizing how horrifying that actually is if that is the reality of politics.

It's not quite as totally absurd as it looks- the idea being that if you want in on a single market, you should contribute to it like the other members do, but you can't expect political control over something you are intentionally staying politically separate from.

It's not super-charitable but it's a reasonable extrapolation of politics. You're basically right though- a lot of Leave voters falsely believed they could re-make the world with a wish.

It's just Britain has been called petty and selfish over this. Yet it seems the EU isn't beyond being petty as f*ck.

Unfortunately, I think petty politics all around is what the referendum has unleashed for the next two years or more. We can but hope it settles down sooner rather than later.

But it's such total chaos in the UK parliament right now that no-one knows what's going on or what our position can end up being. I've not seen anything remotely like this in my lifetime.

That raises a good point overall though. Far too often do we dismiss shady things because "that's politics". We've pretty much given up and we just expect corruption, greed, and lies from politicians.

I head about this, do you have any more details on what happened?

Apparently the guy who was to be his campaign manager, Michael Gove, betrayed him a few hours before Johnson was going to declare his intentions. Gove said that he wasn't fit to be Prime Minister and he would be running himself. Johnson then declared he wouldn't run.
