Funny thing, neither movie makers nor even comic writers analyze this stuff as much as we do.
Like I said, it can be easily explained by how Wolvie goes "zerker" mode, which tends to happen when he becomes enraged via pain/anger. Usually, when this happens, a zerker become downright impossible to put down. Being less than 100% is actually a major prerequisite of it. :-p
