Exactly. Fans get emotionally invested, and usually put a lot of themselves into the movie. They obsess over the smallest details that almost no one else cares about and half the time were probably unintentional, and act like these details were divinely inspired gospel. It's like a religion to them. When the sequel isn't what they had in their head, it feels like a betrayal to them.
That does happen, sure. It doesn't mean, however, that there aren't valid criticisms at the same time. No piece of work is perfect. Some are great. Some are not.
With TLJ, I don't remember the last time I've seen a Star Wars movie be so divisive. Even when the prequels came out, it wasn't like this.

I mean, lets not go nuts here, the prequels are definitely worse(Except for ROTS, which I like). I appreciate that The Last Jedi took creative risks, but the problem is that those risks failed to pay off, and now we have a saga where everything the heroes of the Original Trilogy fought for eventually amounted to nothing, and that really makes me angry.

For me it comes down to separating the idea of what makes a good movie, and what makes a good adaptation.
I don't consider TFA or TLJ to be really good Star Wars movies, but they're not badly made movies either. People saying TLJ is the worst movie of the year are obviously being hyperbolic. Is it a great movie? I don't think so. I think the plot is kind of all over the place, and the writing isn't very good, nor does it build well on what came before.
Now, someone else might think it does, and that's cool.
But is it a bad movie? Not really. It's better made than any of the prequels. It has better dialogue, better effects, better acting for the most part too. And sure people will say "Star Wars is changing" or that it's "evolving". Generally evolution is an improvement, and I'm still not sure that we've seen what a new Star Wars can do that truly lives up to its potential.

Now you've gone from following Rob's example to following Firefly's and accusing everyone that has a different opinion of being a racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic cetera excetera excetera.
That’s pretty sad that people can’t not like this film without being called racists and sexists.

"Hidalgo's confirmation of these timeline adjustments came as a result of one user pointing out that, as revealed in the book The Art of Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Lucas always intended to craft a film involving Han Solo and Leia's son turning to the Dark Side, killing Han and having killed many of his fellow students at an early age. Additionally, Rey convincing Luke to come out of hiding was an element Lucas toyed with, with all of these events originally to have been handled in the hypothetical Episode VII."

If this is true, damn! I need to eat a huge slice of STFU. 😮
My position has always been that they shit all over Lucas' Star Wars and characters and especially the OT (invalidating the entirety of the OT pretty much in every aspect).
Yeah if this is accurate then I think we need to rethink the entire narrative about these movies. I'm a huge fan of these new films and even I disliked the rough treatment of the OT. But if this was the plan all along then it paints a really different picture of the whole thing and makes it much more palatable.
Maybe we've all just been too quick to buy into conspiracy theories about Disney snubbing Lucas' ideas....
Also lol, Lucas' name for Snoke was Uber. I wonder if Quan would be so wet for Uber as he is for Snoke.

I know it's scary for someone like you but, it's time.
And he seems to be having this increasingly paranoid behavior now, I wonder what happened recently to him?

Indeed...
Lucas was clearly snubbed and butthurt early in the game, however. He wasn't quiet about that. The extent is not known, however.
How much of the ST was Lucas, though? These are just rumors and second or third hand information. I'd really like George to speak up.

He...he is not as good at coming up with hokey Sci-Fi names as he was when younger, it seems.
How dare you insult Lucas and his name inventing. General GRIEVOUS. You know he's f*cking evil by his name. Darth Sidious. You get it? Insidious, cuz he's evil. Respect it.
