But let’s be real. Star Wars is always going to be a viable property. The prequels proved that fans will weather just about any storm thrown their way, and even with the creatively-fraught Solo: A Star Wars Story on the horizon, it’s impossible to imagine a world in a Disney-backed Star Wars movie doesn’t make serious waves every time one is released. It’s just a matter of how big those waves will be. More importantly, though, if any of the franchise’s upcoming entries (including Rian Johnson’s new trilogy) is half as creative and satisfying as The Last Jedi, we’ll find ourselves in the middle of a new golden age of Star Wars. And even if Disney doesn’t end up making quite the level of cash they were hoping, they’ll surely (hopefully?) be pleased with being the custodians of the biggest and best science fiction franchise in cinematic history.

Read the articles because there's a lot more that supports my opinion than yours. Your reading comprehension is terrible. 😂

I had high expectations for the movie. I mean, Disney has rocket MCU! I expected for Disney to do the same with SW!

Maybe thats one of the reasons the fans disliked it that much...High expectations for such a mediocre movie.

Ya expectations where high. Wanna know why Disney didn't release production numbers? My brother is in the industry, he owns 3 theaters here in washington state. According to his sources TLJ was expected to fail by Disney. Disney projected in reality it would make 1.3 billion. They told outsiders and the public more like 2 billion. Disney refused to release its production cost numbers due to the fact they new the budget would break 300 million NOT including advertising and mic.... The movie after all was said and done prolly cost about 600 million to make.

Now think about this for a minute. Arguably the worst Star Wars movie in history was prolly considered The Phantom Menace. It only pocked good money because it was the reboot for the series.

Phantom Menace

Production cost $100 million
Gross $1 billion

The last Jedi

Production cost $300- $600 million (estimate)
Gross $1.3 billion

The Phantom Menace prolly made more profit the The Last Jedi. Just sayin.

Their toy sales where basically shit back in December. My sister in law owns a lego store here in Washington state and they didn't fair well selling star wars leggo sets. In fact I bought up bout 1/4 of the Star Wars toys in the store and gave then toys away to toys for tots here in Washington (charity).

And that is because.....

No one expected as much from the PM as we did for TLJ!

Like ****ing shit! TLJ was supposed to show us WAY WAY WAY more from Luke. Way more from Snoke. A decent training for Rey!

Instead we got massive plot holes, an absurd space chase, and a mediocre finale.

If you analyse the movie in depth, you realize it wasnt what it was supposed to be!

I mean even Mark Hamil disagreed with the movie!

Its clear that Johnson's way wasnt the adequate one for TLJ.

You don't speak for anyone save yourself and I already posted from your own article exposing your suspect reading comprehension.

I'll say this, yesterday, at the gym, I was wearing one of my many Star Wars T-Shirts.

Some guy stopped me to tell me "nice shirt." He then asked me about what I thought of the newStar Wars: TLJ. I gave a look and he immediately laughed and said, "YOU TOO!?!??!!"

Then we started talking about TLJ and all the problems.

Then another guy, from the other side of the gym, walks all the way over to us and asks, "Are you guys talking about why The Last Jedi is a shitty Star Wars film?"

And for 10 minutes, out of about 30 people at the gym, 3 people bitched about the new Star Wars movie.

I've never experienced something like that nor have I seen something like that happen in real life. Fans are MASSIVELY butthurt if they will stop working out at the gym to b*tch about it to perfect strangers.

There are 2 take-aways:

1. Clearly, TLJ is quite a shitty Star Wars film for many fans.
2. It has people talking about it.

#2 is why Disney doesn't give a flying f*ck about #1. If it has people talking AND people are seeing it, you can bet your sweet ass you're going to have more of the same as TLJ.

"We really don't care about your lame gym stories, dadudemon." Suck my balls. uhuh

God damn you George Lucas. F*cking hypnotized us all.

If anyone at the gym bad mouthed my Last Jedi I'd drop a weight on him or her.

Man, i can bet you $1000 that if Johnson were to direct Ep 9 it would be a TOTAL FAILURE!!!!

Like honestly, the only reason i am enthusiastic about Ep 9 is because Abrams is the one in command.

So you won't see any more Star Wars films with Johnson at the helm. You give your word so don't you dare back out of it down the road if his trilogy gets released.

IK. It seems to me that SW is descending in it's quality....

Let's hope Han Solo movie manages to give us the fans a breath from This Last Joke

Hahahaha.

Thats a crazy story.

But I personally would have expected that after TFA.

TFA didn’t have controversial Luke.

What was so controversial about Luke iyo ?

.....Ehhh maybe because it didn't had Luke at all 😂

I wonder what Abrams must be thinking....He basically ignored Luke in TFA so EP 8 would be better (Which Mark Hamill disapproved and disliked a lot) and then going to the cinema to watch his sub basically wasting Luke's character!

I bet Abrams regrets not having directed the movie.
