Playa says the exact same thing about every DCEU film that is coming soon.

His words are worse than a witch's curse 😂 I'd wager that it's entirely his fault DCEU is failing hard.

I think the visuals, scope and action will all be very good to make an enjoyable movie.

You underestimate how low my standards are for this movie.

They are not nearly low enough, man.

I remember as if it was yesterday when you actually hoped DCEU would have somebody else than Arthur Curry as their Aquaman 😂 😂 😂

They're lower than you think.

Just to clarify though, I don't expect it to be a bad movie. I'm sure it'll be competently shot, edited, and will, the trailer is decent enough, make decent bank.

What I'm not expecting? A good adaptation of the character. If it's anything more than a complete and utter trainwreck in that regard, I'll be impressed. So far the only thing I liked was Mera's powers. Not Mera herself, just how they animated her powers.

Aquaman will be taking inspiration from Johns Aquaman. Take that as you will.

If a movie can be made that makes Scott Lang interesting and Evangeline Lily not ****ing annoying in every scene she's in, anything is possible.

Oh, anything is possible... with MCU.

DCEU is more likely to give you a stroke than anything even remotely related to joy.

Aquaman is their big test, I think. Shazam too, but I think if Aquaman isn't the turning point in terms of getting both critical and audiences on their side, they're in deep shit, even if Shazam and WW2 end up being really good.

Imagine though, how ****ed it would be if you ended up liking an Aquaman film more than I do.

😂

We'll see soon enough. Premiere on 21th Dec in the States?

Yeah looks like it. UK gets it on the 14th, and we usually have the same release dates as them. I'll use my infinite coupons to go see it, most likely. Otherwise I won't be able to ***** about it here.

Well, unless the trailer is REALLY bad.

Trailers gonna hit comic con I believe

Wan released some statement concerning the trailer, right?

They're still very busy working on it or something?

Last I heard, it was going to be released worldwide at comicon. As of eight hours ago, that still seems to be the plan.

Also, that concept art is hella misleading.

Spoiler:
Amnesty Bay, 1985. Lighthouse keeper Tom Curry (Temuera Morrison) rescues Atlantean princess Atlanna (Nicole Kidman), who is adrift at sea. They fall in love and have a son, Arthur, who can communicate with marine lifeforms. After Tom and Arthur are nearly killed by Atlantean soldiers, Atlanna realizes she is endangering them by staying on the surface and returns to Atlantis. Atlantean elder Nuidis Vulko (Willem Dafoe) later approaches Arthur, teaches him how to control his abilities and brings him to Atlantis, but Arthur is rejected for being a half-breed and leaves.

One year after Steppenwolf’s invasion, Arthur is protecting the world as “Aquaman” and confronts pirates led by Jesse Kane (Michael Beach), who have hijacked a Russian submarine. Jesse becomes trapped in the sinking submarine, and his son David Kane (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II) pleads for Arthur to save him, but Arthur refuses, claiming that Jesse deserves death for his crimes. While Arthur is rescuing the sailors, David retrieves his grandfather’s WWII-era knife, for which he earned the nickname “Manta”, and vows revenge against Arthur.

In Atlantis, Arthur’s half-brother, Orm (Patrick Wilson), attempts to unite the seven kingdoms of Atlantis to declare war on the surface for polluting the oceans and destroying the environment. Nereus (Dolph Lundgren), ruler of the kingdom of Xebel, is reluctant until Orm saves Xebel from a submarine attack. Nereus’ daughter, Mera (Amber Heard), who has been betrothed to Orm, rejects her father’s decision and flees to the surface to find Arthur at Vulko’s behest, while Orm confers with Kane, whom he hired to arrange the attack in order to sway Nereus’ to his side.

Mera finds Arthur and Tom at a bar in Amnesty Bay, but Arthur refuses to help her until she saves Tom from a tidal wave caused by Orm. Returning to Atlantis, Arthur and Mera meet with Vulko, who reveals that when Atlantis sank, King Atlan (Graham McTavish) used his magic trident to allow the Atlanteans to breathe underwater, but accidentally transformed some into monstrous creatures known as “The Trench”. Vulko gives Arthur a device containing a message from Atlan about the trident’s whereabouts, which Arthur must retrieve in order to reclaim the throne.

Arthur is found and captured by Orm, who reveals that Atlanna was sacrificed to the Trench for having a half-breed son. Arthur challenges him to a duel for the throne in the Ring of Fire, an arena surrounded by a river of underwater lava, but is defeated and nearly killed before Mera rescues him. They find out that Atlan’s message can only be unlocked in the Sahara desert, where Atlantis was once located, and head there, unlocking a hologram of Atlan announcing that the trident’s coordinates are in Sicily. Orm provides Kane with Atlantean armor and weapons and sends him to stop them.

Arthur and Mera bond while retrieving the coordinates. They are attacked by Kane, now calling himself “Black Manta”. He stabs Arthur with his grandfather’s knife before being knocked off a cliff. Mera tends to Arthur’s wounds, and he regrets not saving Kane’s father. Upon learning of Kane’s failure, Orm coerces the remaining kingdoms into joining his army and imprisons Vulko upon learning that Vulko has secretly been aiding Arthur and Mera.

Arthur and Mera reach the coordinates and are attacked by the Trench. Mera holds them off while Arthur ventures into a parallel dimension to retrieve the trident. He is confronted by a leviathan that has guarded it against usurpers for generations, and refuses to let a half-breed claim it until Arthur telepathically communicates with it and convinces it that he wants to protect the world. The trident must be earned, and Arthur's idealism has proven his worth in wielding it.

Arthur reclaims the trident, which gives him control over the oceans, and leads a legion of marine lifeforms, including the Trench and the leviathan, in battle against Orm and his army before they can attack the surface. Mera exposes Orm’s role in the attack on Xebel, and Nereus withdrawals his support, as do the other kingdoms.

Atlanna returns, having faked her death with Vulko's help, and declares Arthur to be the rightful king. Orm refuses to accept it and challenges Arthur to a duel. They fight in a sunken submarine, and Arthur gains the upper hand, but chooses to spare Orm like he should have done with Kane's father. Orm is arrested, while Vulko is freed and appointed as Arthur's advisor.

Arthur takes the throne, with Mera by his side, and triumphantly raises his trident, declaring, “This is going to be so much fun!” Meanwhile, Atlanna reunites with Tom and decides to spend the rest of her days in the surface with him. Elsewhere, Kane has surved his fall and vows to get revenge on Arthur no matter what.

Some of that sounds like it retcons Justice League, and would otherwise be a solid Aquaman story.

Now, the execution... We'll see I guess.

Sounds solid to me.
