Aquaman (2018)

The smaller helmet version would have been better in live-action, imo.

Manta was one-dimensional nonsense; if they bring him back, he has to be fleshed out more.

The helmet looked redic for live-action, even if I appreciate that they were trying to stay close to the comic.

I don't know why you'd have a problem with that being Manta was a secondary villain. He was being set up for future appearances.

He was actually pretty fleshed out for a secondary villain. They basically fitted in an origin story for him.

This was a fun movie. Plot was cliched and thin, but didn't affect the fun, so I don't give a shit. And frankly, I liked Manta's helmet. I am all up for embracing comic book ridiculousness in live action

Ya, I noticed right off the bat that Manta looked like a Power Rangers villain when he showed up with the helmet. As you said though, I think Wan and crew were going for that over-the-top kids cartoon look. It was intentional. Still looked goofy as can be, but in a fun way.

I consider this movie Thor 1 + Black Panther's plot mixed with Ragnarok's visual insanity. I thoroughly enjoyed my time, and the dive into the trenches really showed Wan's prowess as a horror filmmaker. Really, the whole movie is a cinematographic masterpiece.

I give Aquaman a 7/10 at worst, 8/10 at best.

I found him to be very 1-dimensonal and silly looking to boot. Didn't work for me at all. If you liked him, cool.

I added, if he comes back, I do hope he's fleshed out more than just being an angry two line vengeance villain. eg Show more of his back story, why he's such an angry murderous pirate while his father was the cool "let's get the job done and move on" professional pirate, what happened to this kid to make his outlook on life so bleak. Maybe give him a second story angle other than vengeance.

I liked that they call him Bible Man... 😂

Never thought Aquabro had a chance at a billion. It's that James Wan factor.

Yeah Ive been hearing that all over.

If WB is smart, they should give Wan the keys to the DCU. Hes a huge draw worldwide.

Glad Walter Hamada is in charge, who has a special relationship with Wan.

Nah dont give the keys to any 1 Director, otherwise would end up in a Snyder situation again.

They just need a good Kevin Feige type, which Walter Hamada might be.

They should just stop making movies.

I think wan can do well, just like the Russo brothers got all their movies. Russo's had a good vision, which wan could have too.

So it was confirmed that Aquaman sent those whales to save Superman in "Man of Steel" after the oil rig explosion.

You've gone balls deep over Wan; it's not healthy.

Leave Wan to Aquaman and maybe the team up films, defo remove Synder completely. Wonder Woman is in good hands as is. Then find other talented director's for their other solo hero films, directors that fit the style of the specific character.

Though I do wonder if Wan would be good at Batman, with the "dark" Frank Miller aspect they tired in BvS but Synder sodomized to death like the assclown he can be.

I never said I wanted him to do everything. Just have a more creative force other than. Aquaman. Hes deserved it.
