Aquaman (2018)

But why? Patty Jenkins did a better film with Wonder Woman; despite having a very poorly cast main villain. That should have wrecked the film, but she pulled a win regardless.

edit: Though it needs to be noted that David Thewlis is a fine actor, Ares just wasn't a good role for him

Finally saw it. Although the special effects were great, that's all Aquabro had going for it. There were still pacing issues, the jokes were just plain bad (MCU level), and if it weren't for the supporting actors (Kidman and Dafoe), I'd give the movie 2/10 stars.

I really didn't invest in any of the characters, so I'm sort of disappointed in Wan, because every movie I've seen of his, I'm invested 100%.

I'll watch it again to see if I like it better a 2nd time around, but I just couldn't get into it.

That's debatable. Wan turned out a better film, in terms of fun, big spectacle action, and its having better word of mouth, compared to wonder woman.

From your review, you disliked the movie more than I did, but you are still heavily invested in how much money it makes and for WB to make Wan in charge of everything in the DCEU. Even though you said in your review you were disappointed on his Aquaman movie.

I've liked pretty much everything Wan has done. From Saw to Furious 7. I was surprised that I wasn't invested in most of the characters, because hes had me locked in pretty much anything hes done. Hes an awesome storyteller in General. So, I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt for next time. Is that hard to understand? Or do you need more interrogation? 😂

Where did I say I loved THIS film? I said I like Wan a LOT. Totally different things.

I won't lie, if you think the film is more or less a piece of shit, if anything you should be dreading it making so much money. This tells executives that films like this are what are going to make them money.

Aquaman has its moments, no doubt. Easily the best action scenes in the DCEU yet. If they can find a better writer that can mesh with Wan more, it would have been a lot better.

WB are not at the stage where they can take that risk.

Russos were a rare situation. They proved themselves not only with Winter Soldier, but then also with an event film with Civil War.

And it wasnt the financial success that impressed Feige. It was the fact that everyone loves those movies.

Yeah WB is not there yet but the DCEU is improving and adapting finally.
