Did DC have anything in the 90's? lol
Anyway, some sexy stats for Aqubro.
Aquaman was the top movie for the third weekend in a row, earning another $30.7 million (-41%) for a new 17-day domestic total of $259.721m. That puts it past the unadjusted-for-inflation likes of Captain America: The Winter Soldier ($259m in 2014), Batman ($251m in 1989) and Men in Black ($251m in 1997). It’ll pass The Amazing Spider-Man ($262m in 2012) and The Incredibles ($261m in 2004) tomorrow. Yes, that’s a super-duper hold for a major superhero flick, on par with Black Panther (-40%) and The Avengers (-46%) albeit with smaller overall grosses. It is still holding about as well as The Force Awakens (-39% on weekend three). It has already earned 3.572x its $72.5 million opening weekend, which means it is already leggier than the various Hobbit movies and the last two Star Wars flicks. This current trajectory puts it on a path past the $300m domestic benchmark, perhaps as early as MLK Day (when David Dunn… who ironically has a fear of water… will presumably kick it out of the top spot). We’re probably looking at a $315m domestic finish (the ninth-biggest December grosser and the 22nd-biggest December release adjusted-for-inflation). That would be a 4.344x multiplier, which would be the longest legs for the “biggest movie of December” since Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol opened with $13m in 400 IMAX screens and legged it to $209m domestic in 2011.
It’ll also be the leggiest comic book superhero movie since Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles back in 1990 ($135 million from a $25m launch). Yes, the Christmas season provided a considerable advantage, but it’s still pretty damn leggy for a big-scale Christmas release. Not to get too hyperbolic, but it is possible that it could swim past Deadpool 2’s $318m (or $324m if you count in Once Up A Deadpool) by the end to become 2018’s fifth-biggest grosser.
It’s still pacing close to National Treasure: Book of Secrets which earned $220 million on a $44m debut opening on the same weekend as Aquaman back in 2007. A continued run like the Nic Cage sequel will leave the Jason Momoa/Amber Heard underwater actioner with a whopping $335m domestic, or a 4.62x multiplier.

^ Oh the DCEU itself is a failure up to this point. Aquaman would have done just as well (if not better) with a different actor. IOW as a rebooted stand alone franchise. No it wont even be close Globally, unless you think Aquaman has anywhere near another $300-400mill left in its tank.
Global includes domestic.
That's is just plain wrong, because the numbers show females going to see Aquaman, due to jason Momoa. Pretty much every female who I know saw it only because of him. So, which actor would do better?

And yet those same females didnt go to watch Justice League 😬
The success of this movie is that of a standalone and completely unrelated to the previous DCEU, aside from AquaMamoa. And he clearly wasnt essential to its success.

JL is a team movie, with bad stench of Snyder. AM is solely about AM, starting Jason specifically. Numbers do not lie, but I'm speaking only domestically here. China loves big spectacle, and that's the reason it did so well.

Yeah so you agree with me that the previous DCEU movies did not help this at all.
It was a massive success In Spite of the Snyder stench.
At least they have 2 Positives now between this and Wonder Woman. Hopefully by April they have 3 with Shazam.
Then an eventual team up between the 3 of them could be Huge (as long as they actually make a good team up movie for once).

Well, which other actors could have done better?

The thing is that DC comic book movies have been top dog in the 70's, the 80's, the 90's and 2000's. Barely in the 2010's did Marvel comic book movies take over. And certain DC die hards (like Alhbi, Golgo and the groups they hang with) are losing their minds , raging , like "THIS CANNOT BE HAPPENING!, I will not stand for this.". lol Jesus how selfish can peeps be.I mean even to the point of making hate groups to bring down scores and other retarded stuff like that. 😬
Oh, I wasn't arguing about that, so no worries.

Those were horrible, come on. lol
How dare you. Batman Returns is awesome. Forever isn't terrible either, it just aged really badly.

You say that like Momoa is the only actor that could have done well as Aquaman without wearing a shirt.
They say that but its not really the reason, otherwise the Conan reboot wouldnt have flopped. And Justice League would have made a lot more.
Im sure girls were just as turned on by a topless Chris Hemsworth.
Although between both Mamoa and Amber Heard, clearly this film had its sex appeal on both sides.
