Once you start revising certain parts of the 2nd Amendment it always starts small. Like, here in California where I live, a person has to register their firearms. I have followed that law even though I disagree with it. Now my state wants to do a DoJ background check when a person buys ammunition. It always starts small and then those in power begin to abuse it. Soon a representative attempts to ban a certain class of firearms and finally to ask the states to disregard the 2nd Amendment. If the states so no, then the anti gun group would demand that the President would sign an executive order to ban them.

Prior to the Revolutionary War, the British seized firearms from their law abiding subjects at the time. Why do you think in the 2nd Amendment it states that Americans have the right to bear arms and have a well regulated militia? That Amendment was written to keep the government in check. If the citizens had access to weapons, then the government could not abuse its citizens and power. Unfortunately today, many in the country are willing to give up that right. Like I said, it always starts small.
I just saw this on this on the news this morning. A guy dressed in a clown suit broke into the room of a 16 year girl while she was sleeping. The mother shot the guy twice in the arm and the authorities arrested her for assault with a deadly weapon despite the fact she shot him in house. Now the girl could have raped, killed or kidnapped. What was the mother supposed to do? Call 911 and wait for the cops to show up while her daughter is assaulted? How would you have responded to that situation for those who have children?
