Not sure what Unbowed's trying to prove with the "we didn't see most the Maul vs Ahsoka fight," because what makes him think Maul was winning the unseen parts and not the other way around Lol
My point is that it is the height of dishonesty on mr. gosh obnoxious' part to claim Ashoka "stalemated" Maul when:
a)they fought for a pitiful amount of time(which Maul probably spent verbally haranguing her anyway)
b)Ashoka ran away before the duel could be resolved
(for the record, if the fight was going against Maul I doubt he would have mocked her for running away)
I don't care if Ashoka is three times as strong as Maul, you can't say that in that fight she "stalemated" him. If a boxing match ends after one round because one of the boxers' mother just died, the bout can't be called a stalemate.
Notice that he also conveniently still hasn't addressed the contradiction of how Ashoka can fare worse than Maul against the Inquisitors but fare better than him against Vader and Sidious.
Instead he has resorted to quibbling over the amount of seconds the duel lasted. I was willing to concede that point, pitiful as it was, but I took a second look at the show and it appears he may have even been lying about that.
Going by the episode I downloaded:
- Ashoka blocks the attack intended for Kanan at 31:10
- Maul does the classic "villain bragging about his plan routine" until 31:27
At this point they haven't actually engaged, other than Ashoka blocking the attack meant for Kanan
- 31:28 to 32:52 we cut to Ezra who reaches the top and activates the holocron
- at 32:53 we cut back and Maul is still bragging about his plans. They still haven't locked blades yet!
- at 33:00 the duel actually begins and lasts until 33:23 when Ashoka jumps back
So it appears Beniboi lied again. He claims the duel lasted almost two minutes and happened "off panel", there is zero evidence for that. What actually happened was that while we cut to Ezra, Maul spent that whole time bragging about how he was going to make Ezra his apprentice and talking about his revenge. You know, classic Maul stuff.
The duel wasn't even a duel, it was a brief skirmish, yet Beni wants to call it a stalemate.
This guy lies more than Ted Cruz. 😂
But then again what do you expect from someone who calls people retards one moment and brags about being their intellectual superior the next. 😗
I mean stalemate as in they seemed to fight quite evenly for all intents and purposes. We didn't see either gaining ground over the other for the time they fought. And they both mostly use an offensive Jar Kai style.
She didn't run from Maul. She ran to go help Ezra. Heck she even offered t X to continue the fight if Maul could beat Kanan. But I agree it helps Maul's case that he thought she was running, as I have also brought up the case. On the other hand it could just have been Dun Moch.
Vader and Ahsoka never seemed even until the very end after she struck him from behind. Vader was driving her back the whole time (she didn't give ground against Maul) until he pushed her off a cliff and diverted his attention to the Holocron.
If you don't think it was a stalemate, then that's fine, but they did fight, and let's not pretend as if Maul showd any kind of decisive edge.

[B]I can live with that after Maul blinded and Tano had to save him earlier. Maul was fine.Vader however
Vader was left without transportation, beat to shit and limping, and probably had to ask Sidious for a ride like a kid who calls his parents to pick him up after some bully beat him in the yard and stole his shoes.

That'd all sound great if we didn't know Maul got beaten by Kanan and is scared to face Vader alone.Frankly the episode shat all over Maul. Here's hoping S3 does him more justice.
And I doubt Maul knows how being "scared" feels anymore. He had enough courage to fight Sidious in TCW, and again to fight the Sidious/Dooku/Grievous trio in SOD, where he was also prepared to sacrifice his life before Talzin pushed him away.
Both scenarios show more balls than either Dooku or Sidious have ever shown, by the way.
Maul isn't scared, he is smart.
Vader on the other hand ended up so messed up by his fight with Filoni's pet character he has to spend the whole of next season licking his wounds.
