Saying Maul should have been portrayed as Vader level, is not fanboysim. Blind Fanboyism would be saying Maul IS In Fact Vader level or above.
Edit- Let's not forget the old EU did portray them as peers in that comic post TPM. I doubt it was written by fanboys, just authors who assumed Vader's predecessor might be able to compete against him.

DoubleInteresting standards you have there.Your argument falls apart when you realize that Maul should've one-shotted Kanan in their fight per your logic, yet in their legitimate duel, Maul failed to do that.
I've had the recent fortune of seeing lots of people accuse others of bias and cherry picking and what not... whilst doing it themselves. But of course in your case, you can't see that. Well we know it will be much more 1 sided than that. They've made it clear Vader is well above Maul and Dooku.
Still they could have given us Maul vs Dooku and made it in the vein of the Resurrection fight.
