Republicans slam Donald Trump, "manifestly unqualified to be president."

Various Republican officials, from lawmakers to diplomats to security experts, have denounced Donald Trump as unfit for the presidential office in recent months. Some extracts:

Given the enormous power of the office, every candidate for president must be judged rigorously in assessing whether he or she has the competence, intelligence, knowledge, understanding, empathy, judgment, and temperament necessary to keep America on a safe and steady course. Donald Trump fails on each of those measures, and he has proven himself manifestly unqualified to be president.

-------

Some six dozen Republican members of the intelligence and foreign policy communities signed an open letter published Wednesday criticizing Trump as "fundamentally dishonest" and "utterly unfitted" to be commander-in-chief.

-------

"Mr. Trump lacks the character, values, and experience to be President," they continue. "He weakens U.S. moral authority as the leader of the free world. He appears to lack basic knowledge about and belief in the U.S. Constitution, U.S. laws, and U.S. institutions, including religious tolerance, freedom of the press, and an independent judiciary.

Thoughts? Is Donald Trump really capable of being President of the United States?

He's potentially the worst candidate ever to seriously run for the office.

He has the temperment of a spolied angry child. Why his handlers haven't cut him off of Twitter by now, is both alarm raising and hilarious.

Or maybe, the best.

Holy shit some Republicans don't like Trump?

It begs the question though, Surtur, is this really even a left/right issue? I feel like every side of the political spectrum can acknowledge Trump is just incompetent in general.

This being within the contexts of Mike Pence, his VP, being forced to deny things Trump has said to make him appear palatable.

Regardless, I'd appreciate an answer to the question, do you think he's capable?

He just consistently attracts stupid people.

Okay, so do you feel there aren't people on both sides who don't like Hilary and think she is corrupt, etc.?

But I mean, I think you're probably aware that fact checkers have found all kinds of things wrong with certain speeches Hilary has given? Where she is lied or just gave out mistaken information.

I look at it like this, Trump lies more but she lies *better*.

Regardless, I'd appreciate an answer to the question, do you think he's capable?

Ah see there is the keyword. Capable. Do I think he is capable of trying to do something more about illegal immigration? Of trying to get rid of Sanctuary Cities? Of trying to stop a large influx of Syrian refugee's? I certainly think he is capable of that. Notice I said trying, not necessarily succeeding.

I think Hilary is certainly capable of that too and could probably have a much easier time getting it done, it's just that I know she would never even bother. She actually wants to more or less do the opposite of all that. So if someone put a gun to my head and said "pick one" I'd pick Trump without hesitation.

When you fail to listen to the people..Trump is what you get. The truth is Trump should have never happened, he should have never even had to happen.

This is why it's just insulting to call all Trump supporters deplorables or half of them deplorables..because there are a large number of people that are just tired of the status quo..as opposed to specifically liking Trump. When politicians and people in general dismiss this all as racism they just flat out miss the god damn point entirely.

People on both sides are stupid, people on both sides are ignorant.

A book was written on Hillarys temperament, and it is worse his. So nah, read a book for once outside your comfort zone and you might learn something.

I haven't seen her denounced to this extent by anyone of importance, certainly not by her own party. This isn't a question of just not liking the candidate, but slamming them as utterly incapable of holding office.

My point had nothing to do with the Trump and Clinton's honesty, but the fact that his VP has been forced to create a false narrative surrounding Trump because the reality is just indefensible.

Surely a wider perspective on the president's political responsibilities are required here though. Running a country isn't all about immigration.

I understand that much certainly. But this is about Trump, not his supporters. However, being mad at current politicians isn't doesn't justify voting a buffoon into the highest office, so I can't sympathise.

I like how you call it "being mad" when it's a fundamental disagreement with someone about their policies.

Anyways, I do feel Trump is capable because this isn't a country run by one man. Trump, on his own, without any support..is a lot different than what the reality would be if he wins.

People seem to forget presidents actually have people they need to answer to and work with in order to get things done.

Also what I said about why Trump has gotten so far can't be ignored. Because this will just happen again if it is.

And entire book called "Crisis of Character" was written on her temperament.

Her extreme cussing rants, her throwing thing at people, her giving bill a black eye and hundreds of other things

Why are people worrying about Trump? He's losing.

Which is exactly why I worry more and more about Hilary each day. It's like the shittiest oncoming storm ever.

But it's also why I feel we need to look at how and why Trump got as far as he did. We will have more Trumps in the future, and there is no guarantee they will go up against someone whose lies and corruption are as well protected as Hilary's.

Dude you have nothing to fear, how can you even think she is going to win? He is beating her in all the states he needs to to secure the nomination.

If anything the drama and fear-mongering got Trump the nominee, and though he will lose the election his elaborate marketing campaign will put his company on the map.

I can tell you why: President Obama emailed her on one of her servers under a pseudonym.

No, that fact in and of itself certainly isn't why I think she will win. The fact that..that bomb was f*cking dropped and..nothing, nada, zilch. I've seen no follow ups at all and if any were done I'm guessing the stories were buried under 1,000 anti Trump articles and articles about BLM and all that shit.

I just don't know how anyone can go up against someone who could potentially have had the PRESIDENT lying for them and nobody gives enough of a shit to even look into it.

You tend to hear about more stories than me: have you heard of *any* followups on this issue?
