Trump's absurdly idiotic wall idea

The billions of dollars we spend on black projects and unnecessary military shit maybe can't be put to better use?

That's a shame.

Sure, is the wall a better use of that money, though?

He'll have to convince congress of that, which I don't see him doing.

I mean literally billions upon billions of dollars. That's just the shit we know about.

We're already a super power, I would imagine maybe just dipping into a few years worth of military budgets could cover the costs.

I think of the stupid shit the government has spent money on and I just wonder..yeah, we have better ways to spend this stuff.

I doubt dipping into the military budget would go over very well for Trump, since he's also running on empowering our military, which means putting more money at their disposal. Again, he's gonna have to convince congress that spending potentially hundreds of billions of dollars on a wall is a worthwhile endeavor.

But thank you for pointing out that when you said "billions", you really meant it, I'm sure we're all grateful for the clarification.

You don't need to thank me bro.

But it's good that you did.

It's not that it's physically impossible, just that there are so many obstacles and ultimately it won't be worth all the hassle and expense, and congress probably won't authorize the price it would cost.

CBP and DHS doesn't fall under congress, it falls under Executive, iirrc.

Also we waste so much money on useless projects, why the hell not waste some more.

Pretty sure its fair for Trump to waste some money when Obama got to waste 10 trillion.

We sent Mexico the money, they send us the drugs. Its time to change our thinking.

Are those the organizations that will build the wall, though? It's likely he'd have to hire third party contractors to build this wall, which would almost certainly require congressional authorization.

If you look at the article I posted earlier in the thread you will see that it points out how building fences in some areas of the border required congressional approval for the spending, so there's no reason to think that building a massive wall won't require congressional approval for the spending.

How about we tell the 11 million illegals they can stay here if they build the wall?!

No I'm just kidding, they don't give a shit about this country. They just wanna make their money and send it back to Mexico.

They're staying here anyways. Trump's mass deportation idea is another one that is gonna be DOA.

Since when did Obama wait for Congressional approval for anything. It doesn't seem fair that Trump has to wait for congressional approval when Obama didn't.

For things that require congressional approval he did. What things are you specifically talking about?

His executive orders on immigration that the SC struck down and he did it anyways.

The irony being it would be great work and would justify them staying.

Deportation is the law of the land, Obama has deported more immigrants then anyone else.

So why is trump not allowed to do what Obama is doing?

Which specific orders?

Just because Obama was able to do some things having to do with immigration without congressional approval doesn't mean Trump will be able to build a 2000 mile wall without congressional approval.

His executive orders on immigration that were ruled unconstitutional by the courts.

Stop putting words in my mouth.

There is a difference between deporting some and deporting all/most. What Trump has suggested would be mass deportation on a scale we've never seen before.
