Not sure if he's a superior lightsaber combatant, at least not at this point of time.

Being > Vader 2 years prior to the OT seems to place him above Maul by a solid margin imo.

Galen has zero to his name that marks him a superior duelist to Maul, lal.

Defeating Vader, being noted to have nearly perfected lightsaber combat prior to TFU, his skills being confirmed to have increased during the events of TFU, having encountered all 7 forms of lightsaber combat along with having innate knowledge of Maul's own fighting style would seem to be a little more then zero to me tbh.

Shaak Ti gave him a tough fight on a nexus that hindered him and amped her after he had fought through an army of Force users and rancors in an environment that he was unfamiliar with and that Shaak had complete familiarity and control of. Hardly free of circumstances.

Yeah, I'll go Galen as well. Still vastly more powerful and should at the very least be around Maul's level in regards to augmentation and technical skill.

Marek struggled with with PROXY's imitation of Maul kek, the real version wrecks.
