X-Men: Dark Phoenix

Ok just finished the movie.

Overall I think the concept was good, but it really suffered badly from being merged into one movie, there were too much to tell and too many characters. It also created plotholes.

Other than Xavier(which also could be expanded a bit more), Magneto and everyone else got little further development. It really tires me to bring Magneto again to fight the X-Men, there were very little build up on these characters, both old and new.

Sophie Turner was ok on her performance, the plot could have been longer to stretch the development.

Glad to see Mystique die, they made her a hero simply because of her actress.

Why would Magneto think there is a chance he could kill Jean after what happened in Apocalypse?

The villains were the biggest problem of this movie, they are just purely bland and acted unnecessarily cruel.

Why did they attack the train when they are shapeshifters and have FBI members who could even get into the White House? They could have just wait and sneak in.

Why didn't Jessica Chastian's villain just absorb the Phoenix power from Jean right way when she first met her?

I'm sure if there have been 2 movies most of the problem would have been solved.

^ Audiences just didnt give it a chance.

Not entirely sure why. But marketing was kinda piss poor.

It's release date was also delayed twice, due to disastrous test screenings. Word gets out. Plus, fans have been aware since 2017 of Disney's intention to buy out Fox and their complete film library, so the cultural mood was to just put an end to Fox's X-Men universe so the MCU one can rise and take it's place. So, it's going out with a whimper.

I really like Jessica Chastian's performance and manner, while her character was too bland, what a waste.

Fans were aware yeah. But in terms of the marketing I dont feel there was any emphasis at all on this being the last one for the First Class series. Heck even the actors wouldnt admit that in their interviews. Unlike Logan where Everyone Knew that was Jackmans last one.

And showing Mystiques fate in the trailer was a really stupid decision Imo. And Simon Kinberg even more silly for confirming that in interviews prior to the films release.

And yeah the constant change of release dates didnt help either. Nor did the needlessly over the top negative reviews.

Anyway whatever. Doesnt matter that this has flopped as it was the last one anyway. And im personally glad it was made. I just feel it was a shame nobody gave McAvoy and Fassbeders final outing as Charles and Eric a chance.

I must have missed the last trailer or whatever that revealed the fate of Mystique beforehand, but even going in blind on that, I felt her death was kinda weak, tho with how Jennifer Lawrence was just out of it at a certain point even before this film, it was kinda to be expected I guess. Her character and performance just went downhill after DoFP.

Spoilers Obviously:

^ Thats true yeah. Post DOFP she really phoned it in. So was totally right to get rid.

Still given it was the only big death and for a major character which had that knock on effect for Erics motivations... Was a very silly choice to not only reveal but openly discuss that.

Heck have you seen the interviews where they are asked to discuss that and the cast seems really awkward Lmao

Best X Men movie ever.

Eric Fassbender was absolutely amazing

Welcome to the Fassbender Fan Club, Time 👆

Jeez dude either just watch it in theatres or wait for digital release (I doubt it will be long before its available).

Its really not that bad that you shouldnt pay. And it will only seem worse on a shitty copy lol

I expected the copy to be shitty, but it's actually not that bad lol.

Wtf is with the shit on Mystiques forehead tho

Youre kidding lol

I am not lol. I'll finish it later probably.

Okay I'm kidding I don't actually intend to finish it later in the day.

I have a surgery coming up in late July, maybe this movie will be better if I'm on oxycontin.

Plus if it's still bad I'll be on oxy so I won't care. Win win for Surt.

Jeez dude its not that bad.

I mean you say through Apocalypse and Last Stand right? No idea why this one is so difficult to get through. It gets slow for maybe about 20minutes tops.
