Really starting to feel like you got the wrong idea about what I said (if that's my fault, okay). The X-Men are supposed to be heroes and role-models. They're not supposed to care whether the people they're saving have the x-gene or not.Beast whining about it, even after DOFP, seems silly to me, but like you said, I haven't seen the film.
That's not what Fox-Men want to be, though. They just want to live their lives and be left the f*ck alone. Xavier wants to blow POTUS every chance he gets, hoping it'll save them from mutant genocide ("one bad day can ruin everything"😉.
Beast doesn't whine, he simply answers the damn question. Fox Blackbird was not built for space travel. It still does the job, but only because Raven agrees to lead them one more time and ignores Hank's nerd talk.
In later scenes, Hank is mourning Raven and rightfully blaming Xavier for brainwashing Jean into his superheroine puppet. Charles is not innocent in comics, either - he did so with Wolverine, for example.
