Also am glad some people got their money's worth, I felt cheated out of nearly two hours.

Seems to be most people tbh.

Thought mid-credit scene was meh.

Spoiler:
Woody Harrelson took me out of the scene tbh

End credit scene was something different for an after credit scene. Smart marketing I guess.

This movie was so-so yet not as bad as I'd feared. Also the CGI for the symbiotes turn out pretty well and a lot better than Spider-man's in those Civil War trailers IMO...still can't get over how awkward it looked back then.

Also

Spoiler:
Could the movie really not find a better wig for Woody Harrelson? In fact why did they even need him to wear a wig at all? Tom Hardy got away with not being blonde so why not have apply that liberty to Harrelson too?

Yeah that whole scene did not work for me.

They should have just hired Carrot Top.

Better than I thought.

It's weird. Nearly everyone seems to have the same feeling with this film, based on the various people I have spoken to, podcasts and sites I have checked out. Dumb, kinda cheesy in parts, but surprisingly fun to watch. Like I said in my initial post after seeing it, I didn't like it quite as much as others, but I did still have a good time with it overall myself.

One of my favourite descriptions is "It wields its dumbness like a weapon". And, for the most part, it ends up working.

Finally got around to seeing the movie, Not alot that i didn't like about it

7.5/10 from e.

Yeah it's a movie that doesn't take itself seriously

Agreed. It was flat out terrible. I have no idea why fans are rating it so high at all.

Well I personally found this to be far more entertaining than Homecoming but to each their own.

Saw it and it is indeed a very mixed bag.

I was willing to look past some of the silly plot holes related to the alien 'symbiotes' and whatnot. Let us see their planet, how did they even capture the things in the first place? The Venom symbiote was a

What? haha.. Pushing that aside, I thought the first 45 min to an hour or so setting up the characters was great. Actually very good. I was on board. I actually enjoyed getting to know Eddie Brock and some of his life circumstances. Tom Hardy proved to be a great choice for the role. There was stuff to sort of care about him and some funny, off-the-wall stuff that I actually laughed pretty hard at.

But it really went downhill fast with bad, overly edited action scenes and some cringy dialogue and some cliched CGI battles that were easily the least interesting part of the movie. This movie really needed to drop the budget by $20 or $30 million and go for an R rating and more moody, intimate action, drama, and gore. In other words, it really needed to follow more in Deadpool's footsteps like they teased. It needed more edgy, dark humor (like the final part about a "turd in the wind", that was a good line). Tom Hardy and the director should have taken less budget and therefore more freedom to make it more entertaining and darkly humorous. I mean, seriously, you can't have characters creating axes and killing

and expect a PG-13 rating to work. Sony fucked it up again. The music in the film was all over the place, so I see why many critics mentioned the tone changing too much, although most of it didn't bother me, just at the end it felt very jarring. Oh, Riot looked fucking stupid. Sorry, he did. They got Venom pretty good, but Riot looked awful. And when they were fighting it was a mess and completely uninteresting, like a fucking Transformers movie with just shitty CGI all over the place. Like I said: smaller, more intimate, and less chaotic fights would have been much better. And some of the effects didn't work very well, like when they played the noise to try to get the Venom out of Eddie and he was sort of shaking and vibrating Venom. That looked pretty terrible.

Ultimately I have to give this a down vote and that makes me sad, because I did enjoy parts of it. I can't say I wasn't entertained, but no, it had too much holding it back. Get a clue, Sony. I will be cautiously optimistic about the sequel. Woody Harelson as Carnage could possibly be very entertaining, but I don't expect Sony to learn from their mistakes.

Oh, and the Eminem song was a terrible idea. Sony has no class whatsoever.

Ultimately it gets like a 5-6/10 from me. And I think that's being generous.

What's wrong with Eminem songs buddy?

We still got a Morbius film to look forward to

RT Audience score is not reliable. Cinemascore is more reliable in which it scored a B+.

Reliable in what sense?

Because Cinemascore also often consists of a bunch of so-called average IQ normies with shit taste hating on fantastic movies, like with Drive.

Because it is the only one that can not be rigged with a crap load of fake votes who have not even seen the film. Like what the Lady Gaga fans were trying to do tweeting out multiple fake reviews for Venom.

Or what happens on IMDb so often, where theres already a score before anyone has even seen the film.

Not saying its perfect. But its the most reliable audience score.

The only other objective indicator of what audiences thought is box office multiplier/drop off and later on home entertainment sales.

They did have plans to show the Symbiote planet but course that idea was scrapped
