WWII and....that would be it, I believe. And even then you were late to the party. Not to mention Battle of Britain where Polish pilots did most of the Nazi killing. 👆

In any case, your remark about small country was misinformed, apparently.

Yeah, like I said you're 25th in the World with a Bullet.

Migration has worked well for aspiring Poles who have come to more affluent and better resourced EU states.

I already explained the immigration phenomenon, but it seems you are unable to grasp it. Here it is, again:

Not that simple.

The main reason is the relation of the pound to zloty. It's 1 to 6, as far as I remember, which gives the pound a lot of economic power. When one comes back to Poland, one can buy much more with a British salary. Some choose to stay, many are there temporarily.

You can also add the historical reason, that is, that Poland is only recenly coming out of the trauma of communism (tilll early 90s) and post-communism (which was a phase up until early 2000s). Free market based so strongly in Britain is appealing to many.

Other than that Britain is circling the drain, so to speak. This is unfrotunate but is stems from the social and political lack of foresight and PC dictatorship.

Most Poles I've met are usually working in low-income jobs and say they are in the U.K. because they aspire for something better.

And most British I've met were drunk idiots that roam the streets of Cracow or Prague after having a stag party there.

As you can see, personal experience is not always the best measure of how things are.

I don't disagree. unless you are checking out Auschwitz, a stag party, because Poland is cheap, would be the only reason Brits would go there.

It doesn't change my observation that most barmen and maids, chefs assistants etc, who are Polish go to Britain for aspirational reasons and good for them!

Soon there might be another reason 😉

Indeed. And my experience with Brits is as I mentioned.

Well, fortunately, my experience with many Poles is better, and many are very nice, although they can be lazy an ex. had a number working in her restaurant kitchen she had to fire.

I doubt they'll be another reason, we'll see.
