I dont think ive seen that whole fight. Other than tdkr reference what else did he do to show his resemblence?

Hyperion is more of a clone imo,he even has the magic weakness

Kallark is weak against magic too.
Along with a specific radiation (like kryptonite).

His personality. Gladiator is a warrior who follows orders from his Empress/Emperor. Sentry suffers from mental issues. Blue Marvel is a scientist and academic.

Sun God prefers to talk peace and find other ways, without killing.

So his personality is best fitting to Superman.

Until of course, his best buddy Wayne is hurt. Then he unleashes his HV (which Blue Marvel does not have):

So he has flight. Strength. Durability. Speed. HV. Plus the reference to the sun. The same character. Has a best buddy called Wayne (who is a highly trained street leveller who uses fear motifs), and is a member of a society (or League, if you will) that has a telepathic shapeshifting green alien, a speedster who can think at the speed of light, a magic user who relies on a shiny, all-encompassing helmet, and an energy user who casts light constructs.

Oh, and there was the tdkr reference.

Not bad for a character that only appeared in 6 issues, to cram so many similarities in. On a proportionate basis, that's far higher than any other character named so far.

Glads has way too much screen time, and more direct similarities, to get beat out.

But hey, if an homage scan is what it takes to make ppl sit up and take notice...

Same artist, using Glads as Marvel's Superman, then homaging himself, when he got a chance to actually work on Supes.

I always felt Glads was more akin to Superboy than Superman

Depends on the version. IIRC there's one or two where at the very least he's an honourary member.
