That's pretty much what I keep saying. A lot of people act like they believe in freedom of speech, but they really only do when they're the ones talking or if somebody else is saying something that they agree with.
Freedom of speech doesn't mean there's freedom of consequences.
Well I agree in the sense that they shouldn't actually be punished by the government or anything. But an employer should absolutely be able to rid themselves of someone who they don't want associated with their brand if they feel the person in question is tarnishing by what they're saying. It's a two way street. The person can say whatever they want, but the employer can also say what they want, including "You're fired".

And that's their right, and honestly it's smart of them. They are in the business of making money via advertisers, and they're going to lose advertisers if they keep people around like that. Such is the price of doing business on network TV. The advertisers are ultimately your boss.

I'm not suggesting that the networks don't have a right to pull one of their shows, I'm saying that IMO all the morons calling for people like Roseanne and Bill Maher to be fired don't actually believe in the spirit of free speech. What they believe is that only people they agree with should be allowed to talk. Everyone else should be punished and so should the people that rely on those personalities for jobs.

I just saw this story in the local news, and at one point they show a clip where Mr. Freeman seems to be responding to a pregnant woman with "Boy, I wish I was there!" And then they show the UNEDITED clip, where he's responding to something else entirely.
I'm not going to say all the allegations against Freeman are false, but you just knew there was going to be some lazy reporting in the "Metoo" scramble. In this case, I'm talking about a network or news media saying "Metoo, we want our harassment story for ratings!"
This makes it obvious there's a witch hunt going on, if nothing else.

I forget which journalist it was, but after Trump tweeted out about the situation I just described..the guys response was "Trump describes this in the same language Fox and Friends did".
