It trigs the classical liberal portion of my brain. I believe in equality under the law and the inconsistent standard with which anti-discrimination laws are applied is unacceptable to me.

There definitely isn't equality under the law. Men tend to get longer prison sentences than women do for committing the same crime.

It's because men are better at being evil.

To be fair, we're better at pretty much everything.

We're talking about a bar/club giving free drinks to women, you know, a private business generally speaking, owners rights and all that.

So to be clear: private businesses can discriminate based on gender, but they can't deny gays a cake?

Women are better at empathy and using their quiet rage to systematically destroy someone.

What I find funny is their quiet rage kinda played a role in prohibition...which lead to oh so many deaths.

"Thanks ladies, LOL!!!!"-Al Capone

How did they contribute to prohibition?

It's been established that they can and we've gone forward from that.

So it seems you people are complaining about a business exercising their freedom now because women (ie not you) are getting free drinks.

All the women in government/power in the 20's to early 30's. Duh.

Oh shit you're in for a treat. I could tell you, but you'd enjoy finding out yourself(if you have netflix). Ken Burns did a wonderful 3 part documentary on prohibition. Just search for "prohibition" on there.

But if you don't wanna watch, it was women who really began gathering and trying to get rid of the saloons. There was this one woman who'd go to saloons and just destroy shit with an axe lol. But yeah, they organized, got others involved..and it went on from there. They played a huge role. They had good intentions though. It started some 60 or so years before Prohibition even happened.

Eh, I just would find it amusing to get free drinks. They can give free drinks to whoever they want.

But it does stand to reason: how is that okay though? I thought gender was a protected class?

Women's suffrage and the temperance movement both played roles. Hell just watch the first episode of Ken Burns documentary.

Religion, that was the main role.

Just watch the first episode, then come comment.

What ever happened to the "A business owner should have the freedom to run their establishment as they see fit and do business with who they see fit." classical liberal? That guy seemed sensible, this new guy, not so much. 🙁

Oh I totally agree that the bar should be allowed to do that. My issue is with the double standard. Those are two compatible stances I can hold at the same time.

I'm still confused on how determining the price for drinks based on gender isn't discrimination and why this is allowed. Yet some dipshits whining they couldn't get a cake were able to take that shit to the supreme court lol.

Something is off here.

Yet it trid'g you that women were getting free drinks and you're not. So no, not going fly and you were caught.

This is what some just do not get. It's about wanting people held to the same standard. You can disagree with something, but also say"well f*ck if we're gonna apply this shit we apply it to everyone".
