Disagree that he's better than Fassbender. So yes if there are highly skilled actors who resemble Bond way more than Alba I feel like it would be utterly pointless to cast Alba.
For some this is just about acting ability, but for others skin color does play a role. They don't merely want a skilled actor, they want a skilled black actor.
