TIL: Actually murdering someone and expressing the desire to murder someone are virtually the same

You can still condemn both, as I have not refused to do numerous times.

I don't recall anyone arguing actual murder and calls for murder are the same. murder is considerably worse. however murder being worse doesn't mean calls for murder are ok.

B I N G O

I remember loads of posts equalizing. You look for them S and M you'll find them.

I don't, but then I don't spend as much time on this sub-forum as other people. if you can show me any examples of people on this board arguing that murder and threats are exactly the same. I'll happily call them a moron.

Don't worry, when Ted Nugent repeatedly said Obama and Clinton needed to be shot and/or hanged, he was just a red blooded American expressing his First Amendment and Second Amendment Rights over the unfairness and frustration he felt. I'm sure the Cult of Trump will in the end feel the same towards this teacher.

I was accused of equalizing murder with non-lethal violence for saying the alt-right's acts of violence were worse but antifa's violence is more widespread and frequent and has a stronger chilling effect on open discourse at places like college campuses.

Your Ben Shapiro being chased off campus is wrong; I disagree with those tactics. But it's certainly not anything close to murder.

You want to talk about discourse ending acts, well murder is pretty much it. Shapiro lived to rant another day. Murdered people don't.

Respect for being willing to criticize your own side of the aisle 👆

I'm not saying murder obviously isn't worse, what I'm saying is just because it's obvious one murder is a much bigger problem than a single act of non-lethal violence doesn't mean it's equally fair to say that one murder is a much bigger problem than a ****ton of acts of violence in various parts of the country.

Both quantity and quality of actions must be considered when pondering how much of a threat something is to society.

Let's say I'm a leftwinger and a widespread movement of right-wingers is running around committing acts of violence because they're upset a democrat is in office, causing riots, using a heckler's veto to shut down controversial left-wing speakers, forcing some universities to pay upward of half a million dollars for security for a left-wing speaker.

If I as a left-winger go out and murder one right-winger, that doesn't mean it's an excuse to handwave the obvious problem.

But your statement is factually correct...so what's the problem?

There's a reason antifa was labeled a terrorist organization. It's not like some old codger in FBI HQ just sits around throwing darts on a wall to come up with these labels. These things get analyzed with fairly robust scientific models before concluding they represent genuine threats to state.

I mean shit, that's why the American revolution happened, a bunch of American soldiers sacrificed their lives so an even greater number of lesser infringements (lesser than being killed) on the American people would not occur.

That's also why a lot of people are against surveillance states, because they don't think it's worth the sacrifice of the privacy of every person in the country to save the lives of a very small minority of them.

The problem is that is seems like every time someone brings up any violence on the far left, some people jump in and say "but the other side has killed someone" so why are you worried about such a minor issue. You must be either a Nazi or a Nazi apologist.

Nothing Worse than a Nazi that APOLOGIZES!

#NAZINEVERAPOLOGIZE!!!!!!

He was one guy, I don’t recall that many people calling for Obama’s death. People call for trumps death daily.

There are so many ****ing political ads on facebook right now, it's gotten out of hand.

Why I started using an ad blocker, instead of the app.

Funny thing is, it also blocks profile pictures. Must be something about the image hosting system Facebook uses.

Do you know who did it right? Obama, he had a team that was savvy for their time and had an incredible internet marketing machine. His team led the way and set the gold standard for using that platform.
