Gotta say, after having worked with lots of lawyers over the years, I don't know how half of them even passed the bar exam.
Being a lawyer is about 3 things:
1. Argumentation and legal procedure (they go hand in hand).
2. Legalese (being able to speak it very well).
3. Case precedence and understanding context.
What I noticed about those crappy "half of the lawyers" group is they all failed terribly at #3. Because most humans have terrible memories.
So if you lower the bar (lol, pun) even further, how many more people are going to fail #3 when it comes to legal efficacy?
A great counter-argument to my position:
"But, dadudemon, we have the internet and we live in the information age. We can just look up case law, you dumbass!"
True, true. That does resolve much of it. But understanding context, knowing what to look for, and using case law to build your arguments to win your cases is very important. If you simply can't remember any details of any past cases, they aren't going to be something you can readily find. Additionally, it will take you forever to search through case law to build your arguments. Sometimes, speed is the most important. Whoever has the best case, first, wins the case.
