TN School Board Bans Pulitzer-Winning Holocaust Novel

A top administrator with the Carroll Independent School District in Southlake advised teachers last week that if they have a book about the Holocaust in their classroom, they should also offer students access to a book from an "opposing" perspective, according to an audio recording obtained by NBC News.

Gina Peddy, the Carroll school district's executive director of curriculum and instruction, made the comment Friday afternoon during a training session on which books teachers can have in classroom libraries. The training came four days after the Carroll school board, responding to a parent's complaint, voted to reprimand a fourth grade teacher who had kept an anti-racism book in her classroom.

"Just try to remember the concepts of House Bill 3979," Peddy said in the recording, referring to a new Texas law that requires teachers to present multiple perspectives when discussing "widely debated and currently controversial" issues. "And make sure that if you have a book on the Holocaust," Peddy continued, "that you have one that has an opposing, that has other perspectives."

A Tennessee school board has voted to remove the Pulitzer Prize-winning graphic novel "Maus," which depicts the story of Polish Jews who survived the Holocaust, from an eighth-grade language arts curriculum.

The January 10th vote by the McMinn County School Board, which only began attracting attention Wednesday, comes amid a number of battles in school systems around the country as conservatives target curriculums over teachings about the history of slavery and racism in America.

The vote was unanimous, with all 10 Republican school board members voting to remove the book.

Irrelevant. 😂

Tell that to James O'keefe who went on the show, and has been tearing it up lately. Pfizer and the FBI in proven communications about Project Veritas, what a disgrace.

Project Veritas is a fraudulent organization run by James O'Keefe who is a felon and is soon going to jail.

These people love to hide history they don't agree with. Can't teach about the holocaust and slavery because it makes certain types look bad, Can't teach that Columbus was a pirate. Can't teach that creators of our Constitution owned slaved. They want to bury any and all ugliness they don't agree with. White wash it all away.

.....Dafuq am I reading here? There is no other perspective and it isn't controversial. It was genocide, plain and simple.

The controversy comes from examining the details. Like how many were killed, methods used, idealogy that lead up to it.

There is a real philosophy that believes some events are beyond analysis, and that attempting such is disrespectful. One offcial narrative, and those most affected get to choose that narrative.

Which is bullshit. The holocaust isn't off limits to debate, no matter how terrible it was.

Just another facet of their "Alternative facts" movement Rightist love to do.

Holocaust deniers are a fringe group.

Far more common are unfounded charges of holocaust denialism. The same way terms like "racism" or "Islamaphobia" get thrown around as a political card (And we have a journalist outright encouraging the use of fraudulent racist charges against political opposition, from the infamous leaked Journo-List message board group)

Wrong.

I'm aware of the 2010 jouno-list scandal, it's irrelevant to your wrong points though.

In a recent video, Marjorie Taylor Greene claimed the Pelosi would form her own "gazpacho police" force. She meant to say "Gestapo police", but is too stupid.

"Not only do we have the DC jail which is the DC gulag, but now we have Nancy Pelosi's gazpacho police spying on members of Congress, spying on the legislative work that we do, spying on our staff and spying on American citizens." -MTG 2/09/2022

Who voted for her? 😂
