Largely successful and peaceful protests in Boston today. Some 20k people showed up to protest white supremecy, and something like 100 showed up for the Freedom of speech rally or whatever they were calling it, only 28 arrests (last I heard) and only a few scuffles. Apparently both sides were separated and Boston didn't allow any guns, body armor, or signs with big sticks that could be used as weapons. Other cities should take note of how Boston handled this, they did a very good job. Also some surprisingly decent and presidential tweets from Trump about them -
"Our great country has been divided for decades. Sometimes you need protest in order to heal, & we will heal, & be stronger than ever before!"
"I want to applaud the many protestors in Boston who are speaking out against bigotry and hate. Our country will soon come together as one!"
Maybe this will actually be the start of the more conventional Trump presidency that Bannon predicted. Obviously not holding my breath for that, but a good reaction from Trump.

There were various implications and rumors that actual white supremacist groups were going to show up for the rally in Boston earlier. So that spurred many counter protesters to show up in force ready to stand against them, then the Nazis ended up not showing up, but the counter protesters did. The small freedom of speech group that did show up, as far as I know, just ended up being a pretty conventional group of conservatives who just kinda had the unfortunate luck of scheduling this event in the aftermath of Charlottesville and had been threatened to be hijacked by Neo Nazis.

Definitely not there for "calm and peaceful protesting" for sure.
