Crews began the removal of the Robert E. Lee statue on Monument Avenue Wednesday morning, one of the largest remaining monuments to the Confederacy in the United States.

The 13-ton, bronze likeness of Lee on a horse will be hoisted off its 40-foot pedestal 131 years after it was erected in the former capital of the Confederacy. Because of its enormous size, the statue will then be cut into pieces so that it can fit under highway overpasses with height restrictions of between 13 1/2 to 14 feet.

A little less than a week ago, the Virginia Supreme Court ruled the statue could come down after a lengthy legal battle over whether or not the state had the right to do so.

perfect 🙂

VA finally decided to remove the enormous statue of a traitor. Good on them.

I learn all my history from statues and porn.

We still have porn.

Word on the street is they're replacing it with one of Ashli Babbitt.

Removing the statue of someone who was probably THE greatest general in American history is not gonna change anything. The people who respect General Lee will still respect him (probably even more now) and those who hated will still hate him just as much in their ignorance.

Oh, and you can bet that you'll be seeing a lot more folks in that area wearing Confederate flag shirts now or putting the flags in the back windshields of their trucks or putting CF bumper stickers on their cars.

People, especially those who had such great respect for such a great general, don't take kindly to government telling them who they can or can't idolize or respect or how to live their lives (which is why there is so much pushback against forced vaccinations and masks).

I have a nice little statue of Lee atop a horse carrying a Confederate flag that I proudly display insde my home. I would like to see any MF'er (whether government bureaucrat or a pansy ass liberal snowflake) tell me to remove it or even to try removing it themselves.

Not sure what the snowflakes or virtue-signalling bureaucrats think they are accomplishing by removing this statue in Virginia. History is not gonna change or be erased because you didn't like that great man and general.

Too late to edit.

Last sentence should say "History is not gonna be changed or erased simply because they removed s statue."

1) No one gives a shit that you have some shitty plastic racist statue in your house

2) If someone kicked in your door, walk in and took it, you wouldn't do a thing, why act tough when you've already painted yourself as a gimpy coward

3) Removing statues of traitors isn't about changing history, it's not like the Civil War goes away because a statue was removed. It's about not lionizing traitors

Haha, whirly is. Old. Ha ha ha. He old ha. Sorry, but kek.

I always find it funny how people who love the confederate flag and the confederacy talk about their patriotism and love for their country. While ignoring that the confederates literally went to war with the country, causing a Civil War because the rest of the country said "Owning people because they look different and working them to death for free for generations is bad and we should stop."

The confederates lost. Clearly Lee wasn't that good a general. But then again a lot of "Rebels", because that's what people who refuse to listen to the government because they're butthurt about a several hundred year L they never accepted from a fight they started, are shitty people so it makes sense.

There's a reason modern day Germans and Japanese don't sing Hitler and Hirohito's praises to the heavens. Because they realize they had a bad section of history and future generations need to understand just how bad it was and how no one should want that.
