Removing our History

I always find it funny how people who love the confederate flag and the confederacy talk about their patriotism and love for their country. While ignoring that the confederates literally went to war with the country, causing a Civil War because the rest of the country said "Owning people because they look different and working them to death for free for generations is bad and we should stop."

The confederates lost. Clearly Lee wasn't that good a general. But then again a lot of "Rebels", because that's what people who refuse to listen to the government because they're butthurt about a several hundred year L they never accepted from a fight they started, are shitty people so it makes sense.

There's a reason modern day Germans and Japanese don't sing Hitler and Hirohito's praises to the heavens. Because they realize they had a bad section of history and future generations need to understand just how bad it was and how no one should want that.

Yeah, not surprising.

People like you don't get it and you never will no matter how much it is explained to you.

What I find funny is that those who hate the Confederate flag tend to also be the same ones who hate the American flag and are constantly talking shit about the USA.

Sure, there are some exceptions to this (like the racist murdering bastard Dillan Roof or however you spell his name) but as a general rule, those who get triggered over the Confederate flag are the same ones who think disrespecting our flag (like kneeling at sporting events or turning your back on Old Glory) is perfectly acceptable.

So ironic.

Robert E. Lee was a traitor to America and is only a hero to retarded Lost Cause proponents, who are just a bunch of silly racist living in a fantasy land of their own creation.

Robert E. Lee understood the concept of loyalty to one's homeland (in his case, Virginia).... can't say the same about modern day so-called "liberals".

Well I'm a black man so I get it more than a lot would. I just also get that it's a horrible way of looking at things and a total contradiction to what confederates preach. I wonder if you knew I was black and that's what that "people like you" comment came from?

Confederate: "I'm such a patriot, I love my country!!!!"

Also Confederate: -immediately goes to war with the country and threatens succession as soon as their free money machines, i.e. slaves are in the process of being freed-

How is kneeling during the anthem at sporting events to bring awareness to country wide police brutality disrespecting the flag? What actually disrespects the flag is that the only reason we even do that at sport events is because of a contract the government has with the US military. There's nothing actually patriotic about it. It's just for the money.

Man your logic is wild.

He was so loyal to his homeland of America that he waged open war against a majority of the country because they wanted to take black people off the table as free labor. Gonna just ignore that fact till you're blue in the face, huih?

Robert E. Lee was an American 1st and foremost, he became an insurrectionist and a traitor when he took up arms against America. No amount of romanticizing the Confederacy will change that reality.

I'm still amazed that the same Confederate bullshit from 160 years ago is still being used today. Wealthy White slave owners used lines like "it's for state rights!", "it's for freedom to choose!" and "it's about property rights" as means to get the poor Southerners who couldn't afford slaves riled up so they'd take up arms and die so the rich could continue acquiring wealth from the safety of their plantations.

When it reality it was foremost about the right to make massive profits off of slaves/slavery.

It wasnt even subtle. They just used the poor folks lack of education and wealth to to use them as meat shields. Anyone with common sense can look at that and call out the bullshit as soon as they see it.

Nothing is easier to sell than bigotry and fear of the different. Stupid people need to feel superior. It's why a serial killer looks down on a paedophile.

Truth.

True, but I'd also argue that many of the poor fools who took up arms to defend the rights of the rich back then, probably knew less than the racist today who still cite the "it wasn't about slavery, it was about state and property rights" lie.

Yeah that was my point kind of. Back then being poor was a very different thing. No money meant no access to education, polite society, etc... They were ignorant and lacked common sense that we'd see as common today because they literally didn't know better. The rich trickle fed them info they wanted them to have and the poor had no choice but to go with it. Like you'd have Irish immigrants who were basically one level above slaves but at least they got paid a pittance and had homes they could go to. And the rich were like, "yeah you're so much better than slaves you dumb patty." And the poor Irish guy would be like, "yeah...that makes a lot of sense".

Forget which article on US slavery it was, but it stated that going from the recounts of ex-slaves, 95% of US White slave owners frequently raped and/or sexually abused their slaves, both women and men, for sexual pleasure and a means to "break" them.

Beware of your friend Palpatine...

Hey, it's ugly, but it's part of US history. Slave owners enslaving or selling their own children that were born from these rapes was common too, as most White slave owners were not okay with acknowledging their mixed-blood progeny. Think what the neighbors might say.

Yeah. Absolutely. Why do you think mulattos and mixed race became a thing? One of my several times great grandmother's was raped by her Master and she had a kid from that.

You'd have an "uppity" slave have to watch his wife get raped and would be killed if he dared do something about it.

And of course when a child came out of it, the female slave could be killed or sold because Masters wife couldn't take her anger out on her husband, so she took it out on the victim. That was such common practice its crazy. They would also keep the Mulatto kids around as playmates for their "real" kids or servants in the big house. But only when company wasn't around and they would always be reminded what they really were.
