Yet, WW did make more money domestically. Word!
And last year Rogue One trumped Civil War domestically. But no one talks about that because CW was still the biggest movie of the year, not R1.
Force Awakens crushed Avatar domestically. People do sometimes mention that because it's an "All Time Record" under its belt which is nice, but fact is it's still not the biggest movie of all time. Avatar is. End of.

Actually, they did talk about Rogue One a lot, but it wasn't surprising, because it was a Star Wars movie. Of course it was going to make bank. You keep ignoring that 90 percent of the BO members didn't predict WW to break out like it did. Nobody did, even the BO forecasters. They had this movie at 65-85 OW. And 200 something domestic total.
Wonder Woman DOMINATED the competition.

That's because they were sexist and had no faith in a Woman lead superhero film.
You would think after Hunger Games and Force Awakens people would know better.

That's not the only reason. Tracking was around that much too. And we had people like you who complained that WB wasn't marketing the movie at all (Which was hardly the case). Now look how much it made. It destroyed Spider-Man domestically and destroyed the last two Spider-Man's internationally. It was the surprise hit of the summer. Not Homecoming.

Originally posted by Zack MSame thing with It you nerd. The difference is the dceu has such lower expectations and this is a massive win for them. It isn't anything special to marvel which has a much higher bar. DC is begging Leo to portray the joker and he expressed interest in playing Stan Lee. Poor DC. What a joke.
In order to make long term predictions, they also look at the social media numbers. Nothing indicating that it would open up to 100 million plus.

It was a DC movie and thus everyone expected it to suck, therefore when it turned out to be a good movie, Word of mouth spread like wildfire and everyone rushed to the theater to watch something they hadn't seen in years. A good DC movie.
SS had bad reviews, yet did extremely well. I guess it had good wom? 😛
