But we are not Europeans or Australians.

"This worked there, so it will work here" doesn't really work.

We keep hearing socialism works, but it fails everywhere it gets installed.

You're right, it just won't work because. Well, because. So no reason to even talk about possible changes. Shit's obviously fine as is.

Yes.

I'm more concerned with background checks, cohesion between the various authorities and laws that allow people to get something like an assault rifle on the spot, no check and with nothing more than an ID which could easily be faked.

what would you suggest to fix this problem?

The guy bought his guns legally, passed through background checks as he would, he had no criminal record.

Guns don't kill people, people kill people. Ive never seen a gun, load themselves, aim themselves and pull the trigger.

All the politicians who will be #Actnow, all are protected by guns.

Well thanks for the gun deregulation, Trump. And ISIS foolishly tried to claim responsibility for this.

And who's going to change the Law. Bernie Sanders sure as hell isnt going against the gun lobby.

For one longer wait times and more thorough background checks. Getting ride of the gun show pay-and-walk-out rules would be a good idea too. In the very least that could maybe stop some heat-of-the-moment type of murders and catch some people who should never own a gun to begin with.

We're not stopping all gun crime, no one thinks that. But lessening it.

yeah. we can't exactly predict if/when a person will snap in years to come.
if there is a way of gene testing and barring people based on certain genetic markers then...this will be a problem.

i don't really put much stock in the soft-science of psychology either. big pharma influence IMO. too much area for manipulation

Gun crime is already on the downward trend. Least that was what I was told when I said gun crime was on the rise during Obama.

So what did Trump do to contribute to this do you think?

You're right, gun laws won't stop everyone, I mean absolutely everyone so why even bother with laws to begin with.

sure.

the majority of gun deaths are committed by persons who obtain guns illegally. control the process better and lower the amount of legal weapons that are grandfathered into the black market.

i just know how rights work...give an inch and you lose a mile.

you may call it slippery slope but history shows this time and time again.

Most gun violence happens from people who got the guns illegally.

2/3 House
2/3 Senate
or
2/3 State Legislatures

Call your Congressman!

Just curious, what precisely do you see the problem with:

1) More thorough background checks
2) Longer wait times
3) Doing away with the gun show loophole

Do you think it's easier to get something when it's legal or illegal?

I would like to see stats of violent murders from gun violence where the weapon was obtained through the "gun show loophole"

how can we do this effectively when the powers that be can't even coordinate information on potential ter orists(like the nightclub shooter) effectively?

I don't know shady people. So its easier for me to get a gun legally.

LoL, why did you edit out your comment on your suppressors?

you may not believe this but for A LOT OF PEOPLE it's faster and easier to get a weapon illegally. this is honestly the country we live in.
