Broly stole the show

Just saw it again. Yea SSB Gogeta was tiers above Broly.

I just realized something: Final Form Frieza appears to be potentially as powerful as SSJB Goku/Vegeta. After the Blue Saiyans get dominated by Broly and leave him to Frieza, Frieza fights him/tanks his hits in his Final Form for a bit and proceeds to say, "Impressive that you've managed to push me this far," and transforms into Golden form. This indicates to me that Final Form Frieza contended with SSJ Broly for a bit.

It goes along with the idea the director said about Frieza experiencing "particular" growth compared to the others, Goku and Vegeta included.

I mentioned that here:

The light novel implies that Broly wasn't trying to kill Freeza. Worth mentioning. /shrug

Regardless, I'd honestly chalk it up to Freeza becoming substantially more powerful since the ToP. After all, despite the massive gains he and Goku received during the ToP, as of this film Vegeta still believes that Freeza can "get even stronger and beat them", and specifically uses Freeza's gargantuan amp during RoF as a measuring stick. Heck, it's entirely possible that the events of the ToP alone bolstered Freeza's power significantly. I mean, the self-training he underwent for a few months during RoF was almost certainly not as rigorous as the fighting/beating he endured during the ToP.

On top of that, Freeza's always had arguably *the* best physical durability in the franchise(pound-for-pound), which likely helped him weather Broly's beatdown as well.

After watching the final battle several times, it really is amazing how powerful FPSSJ Broly was. He pretty much soaked everything SSB Gogeta delivered(without even a scratch really), and kept getting more and more powerful the entire time.

Don't get me wrong: Gogeta was undoubtedly superior by a considerable margin, but the fact that it would have taken a 'full-force' Kamehameha to definitively put Broly down at the end speaks volumes about his power, imo.

I think that's what was going to be used to put him down, but not what needed to be necessarily.

Like Gogeta had him in a pretty sorry state already. He probably could have kicked and punched him to death if he'd felt like it.

This is why I didn’t originally think the gap was that far, because Broly doesn’t take damamge from SSB Gogeta

*didnt think

I really don’t think Gogeta was going remotely all out/FP until the Final kamehameha that would have killed Broly.

Not really, though.

Gogeta was definitely more powerful than Broly, but as mentioned: none of his attacks delivered any lasting damage to Broly at all. Broly also wasn't weakened by any of the attacks -- he was actually growing more powerful the entire time.

Wouldn't have made sense for SSB Gogeta to be intentionally milking the fight, given Broly's asinine/perpetual power-creep in addition to the fusion's time-limit. Gogeta also looked to be taking the fight very seriously toward the end.

I think the 'full force' Kamehameha was required at that point to take Broly out for sure. Gogeta tried multiple energy attacks beforehand, and none of them had so much as scratched Broly. /shrug

Yup.

Gogeta wasnt pulling his punches at all he definitely wanted to put Broly down....

Hold up. When and where did Broly go FP? All I noticed was his he took damage and lost his shirt in his SSJ form.

Look like he was just a SSJ that whole time with the (rage boost of the great ape). To be honest it seems like SSJ Gogeta was enough to get the job done. SSB was just overkill.

I kinda agree with this as well. He had a smile on his face a large part of the fight.

Sorry for the multiple posts. Having trouble with the quote button...

Broly went FP during the dimension-busting portion of their battle(that's why his hair went from yellow to green.) Immediately after Broly became FPSSJ, Gogeta went SSB in response.

If normal SSJ would have been enough for Gogeta to defeat FPSSJ Broly, he wouldn't have went all the way to SSB immediately afterward.

This doesn't look like a guy who is intentionally pulling his punches/prolonging the battle to me:

And still, none of his attacks were capable of damaging Broly(aside from the full force Kamehameha, obv.) SSB Gogeta also appeared to powerup a few times as well, in direct response to Broly powering up.

Yeah that fight scene was extremely fast pace. Tough to keep track ha. Im gonna need to watch it again. Thanks for the clarification Galan 👆

You must have watched a different fight.

When they broke reality Broly turned into Full Power almost right after then he began to overpower SSJ Gogeta he had to go Blue cause Broly was smacking him around.

The fight is really fast took me a couple of rewatches to notice.
