The Boys is definitely more faithful to the source comic than Preacher is.

I just greatly dislike how The Boys, a comic book intentionally made to be more shocking and outlandish than even Preacher, has been somewhat neutered on the show adaptation.

What did the show neuter, aside from apparently a rape scene? Any specific scenes you're thinking of?

Cos Hughie 's girlfriend being turned into red goop was gore, landlord eating out she-wolverine's asshole and then getting his head ass-crushed was gore.

The first issue has a woman becoming a blood stained spot on the ground after a speedster superhero accidentally runs into her, and Butcher's dog rapes another dog.

You should watch the first episode. You at be surprised how far they go.

They cut away when she's hit. They show blood going all over the place, but it isn't nearly as grisly as the comic.

It's a great comic.

Check out "Irredeemable" too. Hell read "Invincible" too if you haven't.

I wasn't a fan of the comic; I greatly prefer the show.

Ennis gets me.

^ Ennis is so underrated.

It's funny, for a guy who hates superheroes so much, he wrote one of the best portrayals of Superman ever(Hitman issue #34), and that had a lot to do with the immigrant experience and assimilation as well.

Finally got around to seeing the first episode of this and liked it a lot. Look forward to continuing...

The more I see of it, the more it looks like it's hijacking Ennis's brand to criticize show business.

I mean, the sexual harrassment totally happened, but the "points" haggling for shares, the hypersexual outfits, the engineered public image.. Those are details the comic never went into.
