Eh, kind of.

Spoiler:
He's definitely not as much of a needlessly cruel and unhinged psycho like in the comic, but in the show at the moment he seems to have much more agency over his actions, as opposed to being gaslighted into insanity by dadudemo- I mean Black Noir.

I laughed

Just got done watching last night. Very good show

The scene with the deeps gills creeped me the f*** out for some reason. I legit had a nightmare about them last night

What's going to be the big reveal with Black Noir in the show, same or twist? Cos the actor who plays BN now is a Black man.

Also read they're going to do the "Herogasm" orgy scene in season three, if it's picked up for a 3rd instead of being told to end the show in 2.

Herogasm should be interesting. They obviously won't be able to show as much as Ennis did, but I'm wondering how they'll frame it, with the TV heroes not being nearly as petty, childish, and downright silly as the comic heroes.

Also, The Deep jokes should be glorious.

Just finished the first season, and tbh I thought it was mostly great.

The only problem I have is that there was a glaringly obvious rewrite in Homelander's portrayal. The first season went to great lengths to portray Homelander as, as far as anybody knows, a very straight-laced all-American Superman-esque hero, with even Butcher noting that Homelander "is the exception" to the other heroes who are more degenerate and personally unlikable (which is odd, given his motivation). This characterization of Homelander as the only famous hero who is really a hero is meant to make the scene at the end of the episode where Homelander destroys that Baltimore dude's plane (with his twelve year old or so son inside) all the more shocking, and it works for a while.

But then, almost immediately, his characterization becomes more openly and casually antagonistic, crass, and bullying, with him barely making any effort for the facade for most of the show.

It's not a huge issue because the actor kills every scene he's in and is able to make the switch from charismatic patriotic hero to cold and calculating sociopath jarringly effortless, but it was still noticeable.

Shut up homo.

I accept your concession.

I guess I figured that Butcher didn't really mean what he said about Homelander and just said it because he didn't want to draw any attention to the fact this was all about Homelander.

It was obvious to us because we're looking behind the scenes. The general public never sees that side of him, unless they're about to die in a plane crash.

As far as the comic goes, I'm at the point where

Spoiler:
Butcher is proving to be a complete prick to his friends, and especially Hughie.

Ennis hits the nail on the head again.

Social activists tend to be the biggest jerks, and this is probably why.

No way in hell does the show end like the comic.

Spoiler:
Slapstick comedy moment where, trying to stop him from genociding all Supes and anyone with compound V in their blood, Hughie charges Butcher at the top of the Statue of Liberty, carries himself right off the edge, Butcher grabs his arm to save him, Hughie accidentally grabs into his bad hand he hurt when a grenade exploded in it, shattering glass that goes up into Butcher's neck, paralyzing him from the torso down.

Just watched the first ep. meh.

It just is kinda lame. I am four episodes in and could not care less. If you prefer this to the MCU then good for you. It is just silly and uninspiring to me. Leave Disney out of this you anti Disney guy.

It's Garth Ennis. 👆

I mean, I like it, but Ennis stuff is totally silly and uninspired, in the sense he rehash's the same theme all the time (Superheroes are bad, take the piss out of them.)

Thats like.. Pretty different for on screen renditions of superheroes.

Just lame. Makes sense it is streaming since the general audience would not catch on to this uninspired snooze fest.

Will you shut the phuck up?

So in the comic, is Billy always cornholing the CIA lady he hates when they have sex?
